I was doing a course in Southampton so booked to stay in a single room for 2 nights. Very pleasant good breakfast nice clean and small but certainly adequate room. Very friendly host who was very relaxed when I phoned to say I had come away with my room key !! My only criticism would be that the socket for...

We stayed here one night. On a plus it was close to local amenities, and the owner was very pleasant and informative about the local area. However, the room was dark with black walls. There were hairs in both beds and we couldn't get any hot water. The shower tray was badly stained but the room was otherwise clean. Breakfast...

Had a good night's sleep here. The room wasn't enough suite but that wasn't a problem, need to wait 2 minutes in the morning that's all. Shower was great, hot water and a good pressure. The pace was well decorated and clean. The breakfast was OK too, not the best I've had but of a reasonable standard. There were only...

Had a great weekend staying at Argyle lodge. The rooms were clean and tidy, good shower in ensuite and fantastic choice at breakfast. The hotel is situated in a quiet street with handy parking in easy walking distance of the town centre. Oxford Street was a great place to eat out, full of independent restaurants and a lively atmosphere. This...

Booked at the last minute. Very easy to find and within walking distance of some great restaurants. Friendly owner, clean, quiet, comfortable beds and a great breakfast. What more do you want. Ps. Our dog liked it to. Will come again.

Very good value for money guesthouse. Nice and clean and comfortable. Made very welcome by owners. Good hearty breakfast. Ideal for a one or two night stays if catching ferry or cruise ships. Would use again if ever in Southampton again.

I was travelling on my own, having come to Southampton to visit my son and I arrived here quite late in the evening, after being 'let down' by the hotel I'd originally booked, who'd decided to let my room even after I'd booked it through a well-known web-based accommodation provider! [By the way, thank you for helping me find alternative...

Owner was polite and helpful but unfortunately that wasn't enough for us. We booked a twin en suite which was very snug indeed. Although the rooms were a little dated the beds were clean as was most of the room. There were some pillows and blankets in the wardrobe that didn't look too appealing. The bathroom was in need of...

I booked late in the day and it was fairly late when I arrived. I was handed the keys and left to go to the room on my own. On seeing the room I was unpleasantly surprised for the price and if I could have looked for somewhere else I would have. I'm confused by the positive feedback for the...

This review has been submitted by the partner of the lady who wrote the review titled "wish we,d camped" and seems to be an undeserved personaI attack. I can only repeat my response. I would like to add that it is inappropriate to insult other guests who were staying here at the time.

I stayed here with a friend for one night to go to Common People. The landlady was very welcoming on arrival and very attentive and friendly the next morning at breakfast. The room was clean and a good size with en-suite facilities and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. There were plenty of choices for breakfast. I considered this room...
