The hotel is an ideal location for the city centre with shopping and restaurants nearby. This is my 3rd or 4th time overnight in Southampton and will be very honest I usually stay in the Ibis at West Quay. Unfortunately they were fully booked on the date I needed. The staff at The Star I can not fault, but the...

Friendly staff great location but like so manyEnglish hotels it shows how little the owners care . The hotel is in very very bad condition the carpet around the hotel is simply a disgrace , if you have multiple bags you are in for a back breaking experience no elevator for the rooms in the back of the hotel. The...

Booked one night so that I could attend a friend's birthday party. Website said there was car parking - I emailed the hotel a few days before to ask whether I needed to reserve a space; no reply. On arrival, there was only room for about 10 cars - and all spaces were taken. Ended up in the multi-storey across...

Staff are friendly and helpful. This hotel is in a great location near the isle of wight ferry terminal with many bars and restaurants nearby although it can be very noisy after they close. Also near the old town and walls etc., one way and shopping centre the other way. the hotel has a certain character, but needs refurbishing. It has...

Some hotel owners simply don't care about standards and unfortunately this place is one of them. Upon enetring my room I was hit by an unclean smell, so I opened the window only to find the frames were completely rotten and unstable. There was no remote for the TV, handles were missing from the cabinets and the bathroom was like...

This hotel was ideal for a pre-cruise stay. Ideally located. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room we had was comfortable and though dated, had a bit of character. Breakfast was good. It was ideal for the price we paid.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the hotel is well situated. The breakfast was also good quality. However the rooms were below average. The first room we were given was very poor indeed with a scruffy blanket covering a sofa which should have been at the local tip. We were moved to an acceptable room with comfortable beds...

Old decor, dirty entrance, noisy street. Undergoing frontage decoration but it does not take any time to keep the entrance clean. You couldn't see anything other than a grubby W from the welcome mat. The lift was 'vicious' need muscles and some to use it. I am disabled and asked for a ground floor room but put on 3rd floor....
