Lovely hotel, excellent staff, spacious clean rooms. love the atmosphere in the bars and lobby. Staff are always quick to help you out and very friendly. Usually after a few days I'm a bit fed up in hotels but I could have easily stayed much longer here. Room service very quick, food from bar was OK. Steak restaurant is lovely. My only concern was the pool area. There is no lift down from the room floors so you have to walk a precarious wet spiral staircase down to the pool area. Also no disabled access. Pool area was cold. However it was all clean and jacuzzi was fantastic. Nothing major but just an area they could improve. Overall a really pleasant stay and u would visit again. Definitely ignore the poor reviews, I have stayed in a lot of 4 star hotels and this is definitely one of the best.

I don’t normally rate 5 unless the hotel has gone above and beyond …On this occasion they certainly did. The hotel is local to us and we decided to take a local break and explore our home city. It is also in a fantastic location to explore Southampton’s historical areas. We booked the executive room as a treat for my fiancées birthday breakaway. I can only say one of the best rooms we’ve stayed in for a long time, good sized fridge, great bed, coffee maker …. And lots of tea bags Our reception and every interaction with the staff in the bar and spa was very polite chat and happy to help, very friendly. The bar prices were not over the top and the cocktails and wine fab. We didn’t do breakfast on either morning as we prefer to explore locally for breakfast, so I can’t comment but the viewing it from afar it looked good. The hotel made a fuss of my partner which we did not expect and what a great treat that was. Wine deserts and flowers petals on the bed she loved it Thank you Grand Harbour we will definitely stay here again !

Magnificent. From the service at reception to the bar staff and cleaners. They all deserve maximum in-house rewards. Couldn’t fault it in any way. Will definitely be staying here where we return to Southampton, we’ve stayed at The Harbour, we’ll stay here in future.

Currently staying here Nov 9-11. Traveling with a friend so we got a twin room. Room was ok, clean. As older adults stepping up/over into the bathtub was a challenge. My travel companion who is 70, just refused as it was to precarious for her. The TV was horrible, kept getting disconnected with a ‘no source input’ every few minutes and some channels where so pixelated you could not see anything. When I checked with front desk, they told me weather and other people watching would cause issues (seriously a drain on bandwidth if another room turned on the TV?). We gave up trying to watch anything after the first hour . I’m not sure if it’s a product of having gratuity (of 13%) added by default, but go elsewhere for restaurant or pub service. We did afternoon tea one day and after delivery of tea, we had to flag someone down 30 minutes later just to ask for another pot of tea. We tried the bar a couple of times and where ignored for over 15 minutes, again grabbing the attention of someone down to take a drink order. One night I walked up to the bar itself to order and 2 bartenders back there just ignored me for 5 minutes, doing something 5 feet away. One of the waitstaff came up and took my wine order . The bar was empty of patrons. There was never a ‘I’ll be with you in a sec or greeting’. It’s was as if the staff has lessons on how to not make eye contact and ignore customers.

Seriously short on all levels. The room (superior king no less) which had been booked months previously was poorly situated, with a view of a roundabout. It was unclean and basic. You needed Jesus to turn the two small wines left to intice to water as there wasn't any included. Really 4 star ? There was an empty fridge too but the wowser was the safe which was at floor level in the cupboard. The occupants of Lilliput would have struggled to use it. The entrance carpet was festooned with a previously spilt bottle of red wine , nice , and the bathroom had not been cleaned properly with debris on the floor and blood stains in front of the toilet. Yes really. Food in the lauded long haired chefs restaurant, Marcos was at best average. The breakfast (all self obliging) was decent. The Guiness at a staggering £6.50 per pint was awful but the biggest scandal was the lack of Sky/TNT. Staggering a 4 star Hotel gets its merit based on all of the above. The toilets off the bar had filthy walls and in need of upgrading. Clearly the whole building is in desperate need of attention as is the taxi firm enabled by the hotel charging a tenner to get you the mile to the cruise terminal. Would you stay here again at a £175 tariff ? Not on your Nelly.

I like to check things before we arrive anywhere and rang 2 days before to check our allocated room. When I gave them my name they said they had no record of it. They said they would double check and then found me. Tonight I have received an e mail from them inviting me to check in on line to save queueing tomorrow on arrival. I tried doing this keeping to the online instructions and it said I was not recognised. I then sent an e mail and had a reply from the Guest Service Agent suggesting I try again! It didn’t work so I tried ringing them constantly engaged. Hoping customer service improves on arrival tomorrow. I would have expected more from a 5 star hotel!

Good morning Anonymous5528, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We appreciate feedback from our customers, it’s a great way to tell what improvements we can make to further make your future stay even better. We are very sorry to read about the online check-in issue that you encountered. We would like to mentioned that when the option asks for your full name and the reservation number of your booking, this should be our reservation number and not one that you may have from a travel agent. We are also sorry that you were unable to get through on the phone to the guest services team, nevertheless we do understand the frustration if it was missed, and the concern with regards to your booking. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Kind regards Aksel Customer Experience Team
