Had booked two nights stay at Florence House direct with Mercer Collection and was very kindly upgraded to their sister hotel Somerset House to help us celebrate a birthday. This was much appreciated! Staff were very welcoming. We were allocated a parking permit upon arrival and parked right by the hotel in a quiet street without any difficulty at all. Didn’t need to move the car during our stay as we walked everywhere. Room was quiet, spotless and large- really lovely. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and promptly served with plenty of choice. We very much enjoyed our stay and due to this experience will definitely return to this group of hotels upon our return to the area.
We stayed at Somerset House for two nights in November, on a football visit. We were upgraded to a superior room, so were probably a little spoilt! The room was immaculate, spacious and very comfortable, lovely decor - light and airy but also very cosy when the heating kicked in. Important at this time of year. The bathroom was the largest we've ever had in a hotel, modern and with all necessary toiletries. We were close to all the amenities in Southsea, yet very quiet overnight. Windows opened to let in the fresh air, yet it was so quiet - there was no street noise. Parking was easy, we were on the forecourt, but there is plenty of on-road parking with permit bays clearly marked. Breakfasts were lovely, served in a separate area just across the road from our room. Lots of places to eat and drink in the evening in the immediate vicinity. We will definitely stay here again - we'd like to return when the restaurant and garden are open in the summer, but this is a lovely break at any time of year. PS If you are going to the football, it's about a 35-minute walk to Fratton Park - but flat and along back streets so easy to do.…
All stays at The Mercer Collection are special from the second you check in! The team is just top notch, super professional in an amazingly friendly way. Check in is made at ease (provided parking permit to park nearby, in a very quiet residential area) at the main reception and we were shown to our room. Wow, is all I can say! The room is beautiful (we had a superior suite), super warm and comfortable; cleanliness at its best and lovely complementary toiletries, tea/coffee facilities. We love how quiet the area is, even though you're a short walk away from all the hussle and bustle Southsea has to offer. Breakfast was spot on too, service quick and with a smile, lovely freshly cooked food and great coffee! Will definitely recommend to anyone that'll listen and can't wait to be back for another blissful stay. Thank you!…
We found a very welcoming environment, very clean space which satisfied our need. Very cute location, very close to the sea and couple of minutes walking from the lively area of Portsmouth. Kitchen offers a wide range of options too - recommended
Cleanest hotel we have stayed in in UK for many years. The rooms are just a bit special, decor, (brilliant choice of wallpaper), lovely thick fluffy towels, very clean shower room, even the drain. Bed very comfy, beautiful linen, even the cream carpet was spotless. The breakfast room is so beautiful too. Love the wallpaper again. Food was delicious, very well cooked especially the poached eggs, perfect. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Great location, just across from beach. 20 min stroll to town centre for shops, bars etc or a short taxi ride. The bus goes every 10 mins. Great.
I booked this from other recommendations - and can agree its a really lovely hotel. I booked it to go and see my son who is Portsmouth Uni. It was his birthday, so I organised for us to have the Sunday and Sunday evening. Its part of a group of hotels in a small radius of each other. Parking was ok, as I managed to get a spot in their car park. Room was great - very spacious. Very clean and bed very comfortable. No noise at all from the road or other residents. We had a great evening at the local gastro pub (Florence Arms) - definitely go there. I needed to work on the Monday - and they allowed me to use the dining room at no expense... that is true customer service and that personal touch... well done! Highly recommended...
Stayed for one night only (27/03/2022) as part of a 'Getaway' for myself and wife,VERY CLEAN and well decorated and could not find fault. Room was so lovely and clean. Staff brilliant and even recommended a Gastro Pub (Florence Arms) about 4 secs from the room that was also amazing for dinner. Breakfast was also amazing and no waiting about at all and again, staff BRILLIANT!! Would definitely recommend to anyone, thank you so much for a pleasant stay. Attached photo is just of a first floor landing that was lovely....
We spent a night here. It was a comfortable place with a lot of room. The location is very near the seafront and easy to go from one place to another. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was very good as well. We could ask for extra portions if we weren't full yet. I'd stay here again.
We stayed across the road in Somerset House which is superb. The room was tastefully decorated and furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast in the dining room of Florence House was excellent, freshly cooked to order. All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and very professional. This boutique hotel is a real find and to be recommended.
Room was a good size, exceptionally clean and very comfy. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel is situated in a great location near to seafront and local historic sites. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again..
