Good in parts. Poor in others. One gripe was the coldness of the room. In this day and age I am all for cutting down on consumption but when I checked in I was told that the heating would come on at 5pm. The room was quite chill and I had to keep my outer clothes on. What got my goat was that on mentioning this when checking out it was brushed aside with "We are about to give the heating system a good check over," rather than coming clean and admitting that for periods there is no heat because it is on a timer. The other gripe was the misleading impression that parking is available. It is certainly free in the surrounding area with the permit the hotel gives. It is no good having a permit though if there are no spaces. One person in my party on a wet cold Saturday night spent half an hour driving round and round. Not finding a space he had to park in a municipal car park some distance away. Other than these, and the ridiculously frenetic wallpaper all was fine. Would I stay again, no, I'd look for somewhere better…
This was such a lovely boutique hotel. Friendly check in, clean and beautifully decorated room. Tea and a lovely brand of coffee in the room. For our room, breakfast was included and it was really lovely with very nice staff serving us. I would highly recommend this lovely boutique hotel. Simply gorgeous :)
We had such a lovely start, our first room was really noise, we was on first floor and the room above sounded like a heard of elephants moving around like they was tripping! Certainly not the hotels fault but we thought we would mention it… the staff couldn’t do enough we had another room within 5mins, our new room was more lovelier the our first room. Staff are polite and welcoming! Friendly and kind Then we went for our breakfast… I loved every mouth. I have OcD and kind of paranoid when it comes to food, sausages wasn’t cheap, bacon was tasty and everything else ticked my boxes. I will be returning
Comprising of four buildings the Florence Gardens is situated not far from the sea front. There is off-road parking but if you arrive at the weekend prepare to park a fair distance away using the parking pass if the hotel parking is full. I moved the car on the Monday morning to park in the off road parking We had a double room, although it was small it was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the room nicely decorated. The breakfast was excellent, there was a great choice and it was well cooked, using quality ingredients. The staff were all excellent, all helpful and appeared happy in their work We walked from here to the Royal Historic Dockyard, it took around an hour to get there, walking along the sea front. The hotel is not far away there are plenty of quality bars and restaurants We will book here again…
Perfect location with a short walk to the seafront, very quiet an nicely furbished room with fantastic garden restaurant and exceptional breakfast, stayed there before and will definitely come back again
The Florence Gardens Boutique Hotel is located in a quiet, mostly residential area. It is a short walk to the waterfront, to restaurants and to shops. When we arrived we were lucky to snag the last off-street parking space, otherwise I'm not sure what we would have done because on-street parking seemed to be hard to find. We booked a 'superior room' - it was huge and well furnished. The only amenity we would have liked to add was some AC as it was getting quite warm while we were there. We had dinner outside at their garden restaurant - excellent pizza! Breakfast was also excellent, and we enjoyed having that outside as well. Be advised - there is no lift, so if your luggage is heavy, as ours was, it's quite a slog up to the third floor.
Great Stay at this lovely little Boutique hotel. So close to the sea front and a short walk away from some lovely places to eat and drink. The hotel is super clean and super friendly. The breakfast was one of the best I’d had in a hotel and the service was so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Parking can be a challenge in the narrow roads, we got lucky with either a space in the hotel or very close by on the road.
Visited for a night, stayed in the Florence Gardens building, room 3. A quirky collection of buildings/rooms. Great sized room, thickest carpet ever, big shower. Staff were all friendly, breakfast was delicious. Off road parking, we got a spot right outside. It’s a really cute place, everything I’d expect from a boutique hotel. We loved it! Thanks so much!
What a fantastic hotel in central Southsea! I spent one night in the superior suite in Somerset which was fabulous. It was great value for the location and the room itself. The hotel offers free parking which is available around the local streets, I was fortunate enough to get one of the parking spaces off road but seen loads of places to park within 100m of the property, I have seen a few reviews saying "no parking" etc but this isn't the case, it isn't like a premier inn with it's own massive car park but for a small business I think they've done well with offering free parking within the local area. I've stayed in a few hotels in Southsea and parking is always an issue but this hotel does it well. I checked in and was escorted to my room which was nice, I was in the building opposite the reception which was tastefully decorated and quiet. My room itself was amazing! Great value for money and very high end furnishings. The towels were super soft and I just wanted to jump into the massive bath but went out a walk instead, The local area is lovely, there's various bars and restaurants in the vicinity, When I got back I went for that massive bath and used the rainfall shower after that - there's great water pressure and the shower gel and conditioner there is high end. Breakfast was amazing! I opted for the garden breakfast which was the vegetarian option and I had to ask what the sausages were as they were lovely, they use Linda McCartney veg sausages which had a slight chilli kick to them which was nice, I also had a poached egg, hash brown, mushrooms and beans, it was great and included in my stay. Overall - it's a fantastic hotel in Southsea that I'll definitely revisit with the wife the next time I'm in the area. Well done team Florence…
We have visited this hotel many times and always find it clean, warm and very comfortable, beds are a good size as are thr bedrooms themselves. The staff are really friendly and very helpful the breakfast are cooked excellently. It is within reach of many places to visit in the area and within walking distance of a decent restaurant.
