We have stayed here three times and been very pleased.

Under new ownership they were always around to help.

Just a few adjustments like having the correct number of towels in the room and milk for tea will be learned.

It is central and welcoming.

Relaxing stay, from comfortable beds to unique interior design, very clean and contemporary, it was a pleasure to be at the G boutique.

Amazing customer service, very warm welcoming and attentive team, from the deputy manager (Mr Lamin) and Olivia the receptionist, who both went over and beyond to make our stay great.

The peir is 5 mins walking distance from the hotel, and also many restaurants at close proximatie, from Japenese to Turkish cuisine, all round great location.

Wow G boutique! You made our stay absolutely perfect.

I would highly recommend this hotel. From the moment we arrived, my partner and I was greeted by the assistant manager Lamin ( who is fantastic). Lamin, showed us to our room and assisted us with parking and our bags.
We was upgraded due to availability- a positive of COVID-19. Our room was beautiful and extremely clean. The room is complete with complimentary cupcakes, which we enjoyed in the jacuzzi bath. Lush!

Breakfast is included and they accommodated to my egg request although I feel a little too much oil was used, it could use a little improvement. Perhaps they could charge for breakfast and use higher quality food? Can’t complain too much as it was free.

Location is great a short walk from the seafront and not too far from restaurants and bars.

Overall, I’d rate the hotel 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. Covid safe, fantastic staff ( Lamin) and quirky and different rooms. We would definitely return. 👏

Me and my partner were really excited for a getaway but this hotel was awful. We were firstly greeted by a lady who was polite and told me my bill was £125. I had a receipt for my booking which said £100 so I was confused about the extra, she informed me this was because there were two of us, which didn't really make sense. She then showed us to our room, she didn't inform us of where our breakfast was and at what time etc. Once in our room we were really disappointed. There were rose petals on the floor from previous guests so the room obviously hadn't been cleaned properly. I sat on the toilet seat and almost fell off as it was broken. The skirting boards in the bathroom had been painted but there was more paint on the floor than anywhere else. The inside of the wardrobe was incredibly dusty and looked as if it had never been wiped. The bedside lamp flicked on and off. The TV would flick off of what you were watching very frequently. The lights above the bed which are meant to look like stars did not work. The room itself was so unbelievably warm so we put the air conditioning on and this made the room hotter. All the walls had scrapes on, it just didn't look very cared for. The bathroom stank of cigarette smoke. The body wash bottles hadn't been changed since the previous guests as they were half used. The bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets were very scratchy and not soft at all. The website says they offer 'hot bar snacks and room service meals', but when I enquired about this I was shown to their 'bar' (quite reluctantly by the lady on reception) and shown a few packets of crisps. The photos on the website must be outdated as our room was very different to how it was shown. When we went down for breakfast the staff were dressed in tracksuits which I feel for a 'boutique' Hotel is not appropriate. The whole experience was an absolute disaster and I am so disappointed that I spent so much money on an awful hotel.

Great Hotel, staff were very welcoming and friendly.
However, the day before we were due to arrive, they called to say there was a problem with the luxury room we had booked and asked if we would move to another, we agreed.
Upon arriving the next day, I asked if we could at least see the room, as the pictures made it look amazing and I wanted to show my wife what we were missing. I was a little surprised then to be told we couldn’t see it as it was booked out and occupied. A case of double booking, very disappointing.
The room we had was also very nice and met our requirements, but as mentioned in other reviews, the decor is starting to look a little tired and could really use a refresh, at least a lick of paint, especially where it’s obvious changes or repairs have been carried out.
The room was otherwise well appointed, with the usual facilities and a jacuzzi, which we made full use of.
Sadly the enjoyment of this was broken by three separate power outages, I had to call down to reception on each occasion to have the power restored.
The next morning we called down for breakfast, full English, to be brought up to the room, (included in the price), which arrived very quickly and was amazing, especially as we had been out all night at a party and was just what we needed.
All in all, a great Hotel, but in need of a refresh, possibly better organisation for bookings, and because of that, I think the “luxury” rooms are a little overpriced.
Would I recommend a stay there? Yes, but perhaps only after a bit of redecorating / maintenance has taken place.
Will we stay again? Unlikely, and yes we will be visiting Portsmouth again quite soon.

Almost forgot, off street parking is limited to four cars, so get there early if your driving.

Could not be more negative about our experience at this hotel if I tried.

1) It is very tired and dated to the point that things are badly worn and unable to properly clean. Disgusting hair engrained in the rug in our room, ants crawling everywhere at breakfast including on the tables, and generally low standards throughout. Even the windows hadn’t been cleaned in months! No efforts for COVID cleaning, sanitisation if masks anywhere either
2) About 15 years ago this was probably quite stylish, it hasn’t been updated in quite some time and that really lets the whole place down both inside and out. In the small reception there’s a large sharing seat that’s worn within an inch of its life, same for the chairs in the breakfast area and furniture in the rooms, lights hanging off and broken outside (you get the idea)
3) We booked through Hotels.com and paid before arrival, on arrival we got told we needed to pay and although we questioned it we were told payment was due, so we paid. And voila; we already had! We can’t seem to get a refund and excuses left, right and centre to date. Nevermind the double charge I actually want a refund for the entire stay it really was THAT BAD!!

See photos, they speak for themselves.

On checkout we told the receptionist we were unhappy and we got told ‘sorry boss, we’ve just taken it over’. Unacceptable. If it’s not fit for guests, don’t open until it is.

Would not return here.

Horrible experience! Do not visit

I've come to learn that boutique is a term which means nothing. this is equatable as a guest house or b&b without the personable side of knowing the owners.

overall this failed on a number of areas. the bed creaked by just lying on it, the cleaning was well below par. the managers were NOWHERE to be seen so if you have an issue, there is no point saying good luck as you have a 0 chance of getting in contact to sort it.

the respect and attention given to customers is so far below what you would expect and quite frankly what you are paying for. perhaps the owners bought it for their children who has no business running a toilet let alone a hotel. head the warnings of the reviews.

we stayed 3 nights and for 3 nights had pretty much no sleep thanks to the neighbours and our very limited windows facing them. the hotel had to way of controlling the neighbours but were unable to solve any issues or even deal with us as they were absent. it took ringing the bell at 1am to get someone out of bed to deal with it considering the neighbours were breaking nuisance laws. we ended up shattered throughout the holiday(not helped by the heatwave, the windows only opening 3 inches anyway and the noise and absolutely zero fan or temperature control in the room) and getting severe migraines from the disturbed and lack of sleep. the night manager just said sorry (through Facebook messenger as he didn't want to deal with us) and the owners and manager doing nothing despite our repeated attempts of getting in touch.

if you are looking for attention to detail and feeling like a VIP which you look for in a boutique hotel then look elsewhere. this hotel will not give you a good night sleep, the staff is not well trained and clueless (not their fault as there is no leader) the food is okay. not hotel worthy and the perks like the jacuzzi bath which we did have was a huge let down. took an hour to fill and as soon as we switched on the jets we had drain smell coming through which we quickly exited and washed ourselves off. overall just don't waste your money.

We had an agreed 2.00pm check in, which was delayed, when we got into our room the bed looked like it had been made by a young child. The bathroom floor was soaking wet and there was toilet tissue down the toilet, this was because the flush wasn't fit for purpose. The bed wasn't very comfortable either as it just sunk as you sat on it. However the worst part of it was going to breakfast in the morning, no staff in the food hall at all, so after 10 minutes of standing there like a pair of lemons we sat ourselves down. After another 10 minutes still no staff appear and a couple on the table next to us leave and i asked how long they'd been waiting, 1/2 an hour and not been served. So i went to reception and no staff, eventually a cleaner got someone from the kitchen, but she just said there's a backlog, so i pointed out that virtually every room was sat in there waiting to be served. Anyway no service or breakfast was received and we had to check out.. The manager showed his face and told me that he would call me later on that day to arrange a partial refund, "NO CALL" i've emailed them and yes you guessed it, "NO REPLY"

We had a two weekday nights stay. The G gloat room was not as pictured with a furniture change, one side lamp and the "starlight" ceiling was inoperative throughout our stay.
The reception/barman was attentive and was required on a few occasions when he had to arrange for the electrician and plumber to be called out to reinstate hot water the evening we wanted to use the jacuzzi bath, the electrician never turned up for our lighting.
Breakfast was "We don't do poached eggs" but other than that was plentiful enough for a good start to the day.
Overall the room was a hotchpotch and not a classic "boutique" and therefore overpriced, but the large double jacuzzi bathroom, when it worked, made up for it.

Booked G boutique hotel last minute after a change of plans. I walked in and there were workman tools all over the hall and my original room stank of cigarette smoke and I found an empty packet of cigarettes in the hairdryer drawer. Not the best first impression!!

The receptionist was very pleasant (she was a big plus to the hotel) and moved me instantly. The rooms look great in photos but up close are quite tired (I stayed in a queen size room - the bed was comfy) and the bathroom didn’t look anything like the one in the pics (I believe some of the rooms have had an upgrade from reading other reviews) which was a shame. It did have a bath tho (another plus) but wow, don’t stay here if you want some peace and quiet. The walls are very very thin and sadly there was a rather ‘enthusiastic’ couple next door so I had to escape to the bathroom as it felt like I was in the room with them otherwise :( also in the middle of the night I was instantly woken up by people coming back to their rooms and talking in the corridor. I’m not a particularly light sleeper either!

The most disappointing aspect tho was breakfast. Tea / coffee out of a vending machine and I asked for scrambled egg on toast which the menu said came with 2 slices of toast. When I was presented with one slice of toast cut in half with some overcooked watery eggs I asked if I could have another slice of toast as the menu did state it came with 2. The girl informed me ‘it is 2 slices as it’s been cut in half’!! There are much better options to stay at in Portsmouth so don’t waste your money here! Thank you to the lovely receptionist - you were the best part of this whole experience!

Hi Jen182, We look forward to welcoming you! There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel which will take you to Gunwarth quays/historic Dockyard and other places. Alternatively there is a local taxi company which is very reasonably priced. There is a lot of parking at most places, allthough this tends to cost more than public transport. Our receptionist on check in will be happy to assist you with local transport or booking taxis etc Thank you Regards Kai

Looking for a wedding night hotel, has anyone been here and recommend a Superior room? Many thanks

If it is your wedding night I would probably splash out a bit and upgrade to one of the higher rooms. The Superior room is nice, but it is your wedding, so I'd treat yourself and upgrade ! x
