Could not fault the cleanliness, food, or staff which were all good. However We were allocated a room with an adjoining door to the next room, that was not good. The people in this room were noisy and played loud music until the early hours. Also, although it was a non smoking hotel the smell of cigarette fumes came under the door and into our room. Having an interconnecting door does not give the noise privacy required. Would not have this room again. Car parking was also very cramped.
The hotel has a great location but…. I have stayed here 6 times. I was never charged for parking my car until now. When contesting the fee at check in, staff told me it was an external company running their car park and there always has been a £5 charge. The receptionist then told me I must have been ‘lucky’ in the past. The attitude of the front desk was not very friendly and this will be my last stay in this hotel. IHG, you can do better than this.
The hotel is somehow tired and unfriendly. As a diamond IHG member no upgrade was offered, no late check out. The room was small and even holiday Inn express is a better quality. Service patchy and unprofessional when asked for late check out 1400 lady at reception was simply not interested if you have a diamond or zero status, she just didn't care, shame as customer service is part of a good hotel. If you platinum or diamond member of IHG do not expect much recognition. Not recommended.
Welcome very cold , room average tired and the bed not very comfortable . Good location walking distance Gun Wharf Quays and sea side. Leisure center in need of a serious refreshment. We only stay there because they take dogs.
I paid extra for a premium room (don’t bother, by the way - the room is a normal room plus a towelling robe and coffee machine). I reported the coffee machine and my TV remote control to be broken first thing Thursday morning. They still had not been fixed 24 hours later, the morning I was due to check out. I reported again and, to the hotel’s credit was told I could have a discount (though I have not received it at time of writing). Then at 8:50am, as I was getting dressed and packed to leave, a maintenance man appeared and wanted to come in - obviously too late to benefit me, as I was leaving, and disrupting my last hour in the room. Holiday Inn, please do better.
We were at the hotel for the weekend. Party consisted of 2 elderly parents, 2 children (7 & 10) and 4 adults. Hotel staff were friendly, rooms were nice. We asked for an additional roll out bed as my children couldn't get on with sharing the sofa bed- this arrived promptly. The pool is great and we visited a couple of times. Hotel is in a great location, we caught the bus to the keys. The only thing that stopped us giving a better review was the tipping and service situation. You get charged a gratuity for every trip to the bar. On our first night we had dinner in the restaurant- there's no menus, we were given 2 iPads to scroll through so you order your own. This is useful for topping up drinks, but for your main meal it's a real headache and you have to get a waitress to check it's gone through properly... but to then have a gratuity automatically added is a bit of a cheek in my opinion. Breakfast is a buffet and lovely food but the crockery/tea pots/milk etc were running out both days so we felt like we were asking for things a lot. Finally, it's £5 per night to park. I know the car park isn't owned by the hotel and they do provide tokens if you have to park on the street, but that is still worth bearing in mind if you are booking to stay, especially arriving in the dark when you don't know the area.…
Exceptional service! Above and beyond expectations. Very smooth and seamless service. Would rate higher if possible! Thanks particularly to Lyndsay, Dan and Lee for your professionalism, kindness and not making mum and I homeless due to ferry delays. Would highly recommend this hotel without question. Thank you so much 😃
I am writing to detail my dissatisfaction in relation to our recent booking at Holiday Inn Portsmouth (07/01/2023 - 08/01/2023). The booking order was placed 01/11/22 following a large amount of research into the location, specifically to book facilities that are adequate for a member of our group's medical condition and physical disability. At time of booking we were informed there was both a swimming pool and hot tub alongside allocated disabled bay parking. Following arrival at Holiday Inn Portsmouth we registered our vehicle into the allocated blue badge holder space. We were informed that both the hot tub and swimming pool were unable to be utilised due to boiler issues, I raised my concerns to reception staff located within the pool facilities although I was informed Holiday Inn staff members were attempting to rectify the issue ASAP. The swimming pool and hot tub facilities remained out of order for our entire stay at Holiday Inn Portsmouth. This specific issue is of high importance to us as physical exercise within water (Hydrotherapy) is a daily clinical requirement for a member of our groups medical condition and physical disability. I have emailed (frontdesk@hiportsmouthhotel.co.uk) twice following this awful experience and have not received any response in relation to the above.…
We stayed at Holiday Inn Southsea Portsmouth on New years Eve. Room was fine looked newly decorated though not sue how long white stripes in carpet will stay clean. The bar had empty tables but all had dirty glasses and plates on. Just one poor girl on bar who was meant to also give out hot food from kitchen so had a bit of a wait for a drink. After returning from an evening out we were going to have a drink in the bar but found nowhere to sit as dirty tables again so we didn’t bother. Told staff on reception who were just nattering, man in suit just said “ sorry about that” as he laughed” ! Next morning same at breakfast all tables with dirty crockery on them, one poor lad trying to book people in, clear tables, wipe them and reset them. Needed at least three staff in there I asked receptionist if they were short staffed she said no they just have less staff in at QUIET times! I’d hardly call New Years Eve /Day quiet time. Car park was full and a very long queue for breakfast…
We stayed here as a family of 3 in a family room on the first floor. The room was a great size with a king size bed and a double bed, almost in its own little area. There was tea and coffee facilities with biscuits and hot chocolate, aswell as water and crisps and Kit-Kats in the fridge - much to our 12 year olds delight! I'd say the room decor was a little tired but it was clean and everything worked as it should. We visited the swimming pool which was a good size, with good sized changing facilities (split mens and womens). Under 16's were only allowed in the pool and not the Jacuzzi, steam and sauna but if you have very small children there is a separate paddling pool area. Towels were provided. We didn't eat dinner here as we walked into Gun Wharf instead but the buffet breakfast was excellent. A lot of variety, even a pancake/waffle making machine! The food was cooked well and seemed of good quality. As we stayed near Xmas time, Portsmouth was very busy so it was great that we could park up at the hotel in the morning of our arrival and walk everywhere including Gun Wharf and Southsea beach/amusements. Negatives: Only that the decor in the rooms needs a bit of TLC, some of the carpet was coming up and the tiles were cracking but it was clean and functional with added extras that were a nice touch (water etc). Overall the hotel is great for families who want a central base for exploring the seaside, shopping and swimming. We would definitely return.…
