This has to be one of the finest Travelodge’s in the country at this time. This new lodge impressed from the time that I arrived with a very friendly, efficient and professional welcome by Roxanne and her manager colleague wish all check in were like this exceptional customer service.

The whole hotel to my eyes was very clean and some excellent Covid 19 protection protocols in place making you feel as safe as possible.

Room 816 was one of the Travelodge’s Super Rooms; these are an excellent place to work, rest and play; very comfortable and convivial to a good night’s sleep.

Benefiting from a nice place to sit and work, a relaxing chair for watching the excellent TV, a coffee machine to keep you going (as well as a couple of chocolate bars); the room also contained a iron and ironing board together with a professional hairdryer.

The bed was provided a very comfy mattress, choice of soft or firm pillows and a lovely duvet encasing in crisp clean linen.

The contemporary bathroom, though compact, was more than adequate, with an excellent shower with three settings, some nice towels and exceptional clean.

This Travelodge provides an outstanding place to stay in the heart of Portsmouth City Centre, very close to the train station and the local bus stops, as well as the restaurant, bars and shops together with being in walking distance to the historic dockyard.

Highly recommended and also good value for money.

Wow what a find!

We needed an overnight stay in Portsmouth and found a great deal on the Travelodge website for one of the Super Rooms here.

Arrived early and were lucky enough to grab one of the limited parking spaces onsite for just £5 per 24 hours. In the centre of Portsmouth during December was a real bargain. The location is less than 10 minutes walk away from Gunwharf Quays, which was a lot quicker than all of the cars queueing down the street to get there!

Check-in was seamless and efficient and we was soon allocated our room key. Great service from Remus and Razvan, who were both very friendly and courteous!

Our room was on the 8th floor with a fantastic view of some of the ships in the Historic Dockyard as well as Spinnaker Tower and even over to the Isle of Wight in the distance. The room was clean, roomy and complete with a Lavazza coffee machine and plenty of coffee pods. This was in addition to the usual kettle, tea, milk and even a couple of KitKat's!

The bed was very comfortable and a lovely power shower with what seemed to be new towels.

Made for a great start to our holiday and we both decided that we will be back!

1st time I have used Travelodge and it will be the last, room cleaning leaves a lot to be desired, £20 charge for deep cleaning after a dog has stopped in a room 🤣🤔 really when there rooms are not clean, when booking the hotel the car parking was free on arrival we then found out you now have to pay £5 per day, would it have not been the right thing to contact customers when you have changed a major thing ?.
The Bar / Cafe, words probably don't really do this place justice, when we arrived a reception at around 1pm you can see the bar and tables covered in glasses etc, 5 hours later when we went in for the evening meal we had booked the same glasses etc still there, as for the food it was absolutely disgusting and we returned everything,.the staff member informed us the Items missing from our plate was off and that's why our plates looked pathetic, based on the evening meal and the lack of cleanliness we cancelled breakfast.
Sorry Travelodge we won't be returning ever again, your staff had a total lack of interest.

We had booked two nights in a standard room check in with smooth enough via a girl called Elise.

The first room we had was room 713 which was dirty there were pubes in the bathroom doorway and along bottom of bathroom skirt.

We were then moved to 717 which had a massive red wine stain on carpet besides the bed and more pubes and a sticky residue on the bathroom floor.

Tiffany tried to help but was extremely unprofessional and swore multiple times directly at my self and my partner. And Tiffany also stated she wouldn’t of expected us to be so nit picky but I’d paid £160 for two nights and expected a clean hair free stain free room.

We were finally moved to 902 which was seemly a super room which had to be the worst of the three. The bed wasn’t made so did this once they finally provided a sheet which took over 20 minutes. The coffee machine had stagnant water left in the tank and there were lots of different strands of hair everywhere.

The food was awful at dinner we ordered two basic burgers which were told was a 15 - 20 min wait for a hour later they refunded us and then the food turned up 1 hour 15 mins after ordering which was cold and soggy.

Issac was a vile and rude waiter we stated the breakfast was cold and were told ‘bruv I’ve asked 7 people they said it’s hot fam’ which is not how you speak to the public. He also stated ‘Bruv there are no managers in today so don’t bother waiting’ he was rude and just really needs a lesson in customer service. I appreciate it’s a budget hotel but basic manors cost nothing.

The general manager of this so called travelodge plus was clearly not interested to hear my issues and was in dirty jeans and muddy trainers. He was not willing to listen to the issues and basically refunded the whole stay. He said it’s not his fault and most of the staff are new yet this is no excuse for the poor service and awful rooms.

Stayed at the hotel for two nights. Location was very convenient. Our family room was clean and roomy. Everything looked relatively new and we had a nice view towards the Spinaker Tower. We were unable to get a space in the on-site car park but this was expected with our late arrival. Used the alternative car park which is suggested by the hotel and this is just a few minutes walk. Receptionists at check in was friendly and helpful. There were four of us in our room so found it a little odd that only two towels were provided. When I asked for more at reception I was given one!

There were a couple of things we found frustrating / disappointing. The first was the lift situation. One lift was out of action for the duration of our stay. With a little one in a buggy this often meant a long wait. On checking out we waited 20 minutes for an empty lift to stop on our floor. The second thing was breakfast. When I booked our rooms sometime ago the only option for breakfast was a take away style breakfast bag, I therefore booked room only. With the restaurant now open again, the first morning we paid for breakfast at reception and enjoyed the variety on offer. The second morning we were refused breakfast as we hadn’t added it at the time of booking (this is despite posters all over the hotel advertising breakfast at a set price!). Never have I been to a hotel where I haven’t been allowed to purchase breakfast - their loss as we took our £60 elsewhere.

Overall mixed feelings about this hotel - not sure we would return.

We paid to have a deluxe room but for 2 adults and 2 children this was very limited, knowing that we could see the fire plan on door this was a very small room of choice. The air conditioning was locked to not go below 19 even though it was a hot day. We arrived to not having any clear signs to where additional parking was and this was the case for lots of guests arriving and parking everywhere to have to go to floor 1 to find out where. We was advised the cathedral carpark could be overflowing and would have to go to the shopping centre carpark and pay full price. We arrived to one lift broken and being advised we are on floor 8 with two children we had to wait a long time for lift thought might just be a busy time. On day two we thought the lift was not working as took so long to come to floor 8 we decided to walk down. We went out and then arrived back to drop stuff back and children needed to use toilet prior to going on for the day the fire alarm was going and the lift was broken. We had to carry our belongings and get our children up 8 floors (16 flights of stairs) with two young children. We then went back down went out and hoped that this would result in the fire alarm being fixed to allow one of the lifts to be fixed. We arrived back later on and the lift was still not fixed. We passed so many other guests on the stair way also struggling and upset about the situation with children in tow also struggling with getting them up to their floor. We decided not to go back out that afternoon due to this. One lift was fixed to be able to be used but it took at least 5-10 mins waiting for it to arrive and then sometimes you would have to wait again as no space as the lift is tiny and may have stopped at many floors prior and peoples cases etc. on our last morning we had the breakfast served at hotel this was disappointing and caused all our family to have an upset stomach the duration of the day. I am unsure if this was food or the apple juice as this was so strong and had not been correctly mixed or made as syrup was so strong it was hard to even drink. So as you can read from our stay I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if your not willing to have to deal with additional complications.

In an centralised location with access to many of the city's shops and eats, we were welcomed with friendly and enthusiastic reception staff. The price of the room between myself and my partner, it was definitely worth the money. We both highly recommend staying here to anyone and would love to stay here again.

Wife and I stayed here night before sailing to Isle of White.
Whilst the staff were helpful and friendly we were rather disappointed to find that there was no hand soap or shower gel in bathroom. Luckily we had our own. But it was quite ironic that there is signs in room telling you to wash your hands before leaving and on returning to room, but not the tools to do the job.

I'm sure the staff would have helped if I had reported it but when you arrive late after a long drive the last thing we wanted was people in our room

Breakfast was nice but will be glad when restrictions ease and we can serve ourself.

We were expecting something decent, but were pleasantly surprised as we arrived as the receptionist not even greeted us with a smile. As we picked our room keycards the woman seemed disinterested in even giving us eye contact. This was a nice welcome!

As we went to wait for the lifts (we have a small baby and a pram, so we always need the lift) to get up to the 8th floor, it was apparent that only one lift was working. We waited for 20 minutes as everytime the lift opened its doors, there would be other people staring back at us with no room left for us.

We eventually managed to get up to our floor, but we noticed some littering around the lift area (drink bottles, food packs, etc). This did not make a good impression and I asked my partner to pray as we did not wish our room to be of the same quality.

To our surprise, our room was very nicely organised, clean and most of all, the air conditioning was at a nice level so my family rejoiced, kicked back and enjoyed the nice cool air after such a strenous journey from Reading.

We went to have some lunch and again we noticed the lift was still broken. I spoke to a member who was also waiting for a lift, and was told it will be fixed by the end of the day. This pleased me as I felt at least I was being valued.

At night there was a lot of noise coming from every direction. At 12am there were loud televisions, people stomping around (or doing their business) as well as near enough talking so loudly you could almost hear their conversations. My children did not find it a problem to fall asleep as they were tired, but me and my partner struggled to get a good nights rest because of all the noise.

The next day, same problems. Littering in the hallways, the left was not fixed as promised and had to wait 20 minutes to even get out of the hotel thanks to non working lifts.

Unfortunately all these problems occurred even to the point of time when we checked out. False promises, littering and noise just destroyed our mini holiday we worked so hard to book in the first place. I will not be staying in the same place again as its just too bothersome and the staff don't care.
