Somewhat concerned by some of the previous reviews, I did wonder what we would find when we stayed for a few nights. I left wondering why there has been so many dreadful reviews. It's true that the hotel needs a major infusion of cash to bring it up to modern standards but not at the expense of it's history. If...

I stayed in this hotel a year back with my mum and dad. First impressions, I absolutely loved it. The whole style of the place was fabulas and different, it's nice to have something different from all these 'modern' places. I must say the gentleman at the reception creeped me out but it made me love it even more. The...

Was slightly concerned about our visit due to some of the reviews on trip advisor. However we had a brilliant visit. Yes the Hotel is tired and in need of decoration however it's location could not be improved on. The free parking was a bonus too. You are 5 mins from either the historic dockyard or Gun Wharf with all...

Everything that others say about this hotel is true, it is like walking into an old museum, odd strips of wallpaper everywhere carpets of differing quality here and there, at least the bed was clean. It is a shame because with parking on site, our room looked out at the"spinnaker tower" and across the river, and a short walk in...

Filthy stained carpets and walls, mound on the windows, dirt all around the place, disgusting bathroom, wallpaper peeling off the walls. No one seemed to care. It felt like a homeless shelter. The bed was full of springs sticking out. The whole place smelt damp

Read all the reviews and given that quite a few guests return to the hotel went to it with an open mind and hoped for a 'quirky' experience in an historic building opposite the dockyard.Oh my goodness - the curtains were torn, the carpets mismatched and threadbare, the toilet was loose from the wall.....the only saving grace was that the...

Dirty, smelly, really old bed with visible springs and flat pillows- paid bill because genuinely felt for staff working there. Owners should be ashamed, decor is like a condemned nursing home with filthy furnishings, dirty bathroom and a strong odour of shake and vac, febreeze to disguise a terribly musty smell. Just awful.

We booked this hotel entirely on location and it works great for that, being 200 yards from both the Historic Dockyard and the shopping and restaurants at the quays, and it has free parking and views to the dockyard. It should be really thriving, given these advantages, but the dowdy and dated decor is a real turn off and there...
