hotel tired, in need of re-decorating, needs new carpets, many are badly worn and are trip hazards, lift must have been made before WWII. Plumbing, hot and cold taps round the wrong way, in the room that we stayed in. Breakfast very good, staff seemed a bit "Off hand" with customers though. Hotel well situated for Gunwharf Quay and Portsmouth...

lets get the good bits over with ... Great location, being just across the road from Gunnery Wharf and the Historic Dockyard. There is also free parking, this is unknown in the rest of Portsmouth. We had problems with our room, the toilet was coming away from the wall. The man who checked us in dealt with our problem and...

We stayed here for 2 nights while sight seeing the historic dock area, Hotel is near all you need from sight seeing, shopping and dining out, all within walking distances. We had a wharf facing room on the 2nd floor which was large and roomy as was the en-suite bathroom but all in need of renovation as quite tired, but...

Arrived late for booking in (10.30 pm) but no problem. The staff were just brilliant and checked us in to our rooms, provided drinks and had a laugh with us which got things off to a great start. Breakfast was superb, and the breakfast room is a beautiful place to eat. The building is old and needs a bit of...

Somewhat concerned by some of the previous reviews, I did wonder what we would find when we stayed for a few nights. I left wondering why there has been so many dreadful reviews. It's true that the hotel needs a major infusion of cash to bring it up to modern standards but not at the expense of it's history. If...

I stayed in this hotel a year back with my mum and dad. First impressions, I absolutely loved it. The whole style of the place was fabulas and different, it's nice to have something different from all these 'modern' places. I must say the gentleman at the reception creeped me out but it made me love it even more. The...
