What a find ! Great welcome. Friendly atmosphere. Good food. Really good menu. We all ordered different meals and they were all served together, fast efficient service with a smile. The pub is full of character and history in the heart of old dock lands.

Friendly staff, pub popular with a local crowd as good beer and good food. Not sure I would want to stay in one of their rooms, but is definitely ok for a refreshing drink or two. Easy to find as on a main road, but no obvious parking.

Stayed in July and hotel ideally placed for Historic Dockyard. Car parking just across the street and happy to leave car there. Staff were cheerful, welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast was traditional and good value. Would recommend.

The hotel is in a good location close to the harbor and the main station. I had dinner that was o.k. They serve breakfast from 8.00 a..m. and refused a solution for an early one. the paid parking lot is across the street. they gave me a ticket to get a refund but I had to look for someone in the parking lot that wasn't there.

Stayed here for 2 nights as close to the historic dockyard. Very reasonable prices and includes a very good breakfast. Full English if wanted plus cereal, fruit, yoghurt and toast. Evening meals were also very good and very large portions. All the staff were lovely. Twin room was very nice (room 5), beds were very comfortable and room had tea, coffee, milk and nice biscuits. Hairdyers and ironing stuff were available if required. Only thing missing was a grab bar for the bath/shower. Maybe only this room as photoes show bar in other rooms. Toiletries were also provided and they held luggage for us before and after we checked in/out so we could go exploring. Thank you to everyone especially Carrieanne, Jeanette and Jason.

I have used The George on several occassions before, whilst just visiting or attending various functions, and have always found it friendly, clean and comfortable. My latest stay was in company with 3 shipmates for an RN Re-union. We received a warm welcome, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As usual the Evening meal and Breakfasts were excellent and very good value. And our rooms suited our needs perfectly. Thank You

I spent 6 very comfortable nights in a beautiful room (room 6). This room is above the bar and you will hear bar noise as the building is very old. It didn’t bother me at all. I was greeted warmly by Nicky when I arrived and I found all the staff in the bar and restaurant very friendly. The food was really excellent. My room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, water pressure was good. Wifi was hit and miss. The George is just across the road from the Historic Docks and in a great location to explore all along the waterfront. All in all an excellent place to eat and stay.
