Many guests note the hotel's cleanliness and the inviting atmosphere of its well-appointed rooms, despite occasional remarks about peeling paint. Its prime location is a highlight, offering easy access to attractions and parking conveniences. While the hotel's amenities are generally appreciated, some guests mention the awkward placement of toilet paper dispensers. I recently stayed at Premier Inn Stroud whilst attending a function in the local area with my fiancé. The hotel excelled itself before we even arrived, I received an email 2 days prior to our arrival giving information on breakfast and deals that can be had in the restaurant also included in this was querying as to whether a ground floor or upper level floor was required.

I responded and within 5 minutes I had a reply not had this sort of email prior to staying at a Premier Inn really good customer service indeed.

Upon arriving at the hotel there was plenty free car parking and the location is really central maximum of a 10 minute walk to local pubs and restaurants should you not wish to use the onsite one.

The room we had allocated was really big plenty to move around whilst each other were getting ready no issue of the mirror been in a place where you couldn’t pass by whilst someone was using. The room came with a built in shower as as-pose to a shower over bath this was really nice pressure was good and water really good temperature easy to set.

My only issue was the lack of windows you could open which meant the room got hit quite easily so use of the electric fan was had to keep it cool, this is not an major issue as it was an old building.

I will not hesitate in booking this hotel when I am in the area again.

Keep up the good work and thanks again for a great stay.

Stayed here for one night as we were in Stroud for a funeral. Arrived at the hotel to be told that we had an upstairs family room but there is no lift. Apparently if you want a ground floor room you need to ring up and request after booking. Even though at the time of booking we requested a cot for our 9 month old son. I was not at all happy with this as it's not entirely obvious when you're booking on the website. The hotel was fully booked so we couldn't change room but I shared my disappointment and feedback that it needs to be clearer on the website that there is no stairs as we had so much trouble taking our son up and down the stairs with the buggy. Plus due to Covid no one can help with baggage.

The hotel gave us complimentary breakfasts given how unhappy I was about the room.

On the plus side the room was a family room with a cot, two single beds and a huge double bed. It was a beautiful spacious room and it was very clean!! I'd stay again just request a ground floor room lol. Also price was £80 which for the quality of the room is a fantastic price!

There's plenty of hand sanitizer all around the hotel and in all communal areas including corridors you have to wear masks. Just not in the restaurant

We stayed at the Premier Inn on a Friday night so we could visit Stroud farmers market in the morning. It was one of the nicest Premier Inns that we have stayed in. Location is excellent, just a 5 minute walk into town and there is a beautiful walk next to the hotel around the lake and the museum in the park.

We had a family room which was very spacious and furnished well.

We ate at the attached Brewer's fair which is really do with a makeover and is lacking atmosphere so we probably wouldn't eat there again. Saying that the food was OK and the waitress was lovely.

Overall an excellent stay and we will be back. Great base for exploring the area.

When you pay for a hotel you want facilities equal to your own standards if not better. Premier in kept its reputation in our eyes in Stroud as the rooms were obviously recently refurbished, the room was spotless and the bed as comfortable as advertised and as we experienced before. The bathroom was also pristine and had everything for our needs. The refurbished could have given thought to the shower taps which are not easy or customer friendly for oldies. But they earn a few brownie points for having my favourite washbasin plug swivel system. Simple and clean - It took me years to discover them.
Everything was simple but no lift for oldies. However access to the customer friendly car park was ideal.
The thing that lets Premier Inn down its the Brewers Fare greasy spoon experience.. It has not changed for years and is really off putting. We were hoping for better things in Stroud. We were shoved in the overflow area with crummy tables of inappropriate size height and appearance and uncomfortable benches of inappropriate height, with no atmosphere with an open door view of the loos. The fare was typical greasy spoon with ‘extra’ quadruple cooked chips obviously left over from double cooked ones and the food was just a mass of overcooked tepid food you would be likely to serve to your dog. Unfortunately the weather was not conducive to sitting in what might have been a pleasant area outside. This chain does not cater to those who don’t want to eat like pigs at a trough, with no finesse, wine slopped from glasses and left. We did however get an enormous jug of water with ice and lemon big enough to quench a coachload . The burger was like shoe leather, the rest soggy tepid with tasteless cheese and why there needs to be double portions of old rehashed chips is mysterious. We travellers might be peckish but we are not quite starving. Staff were polite but obviously have no other training but for greasy spoons. They follow orders but obviously do not think for themselves.
Many visitors on stop overs are travellers who have experienced France and may be on the way there or back. In France even the poorest of hostelries takes a pride in its service, presentation and quality of even the simplest offerings. Why has Premier Inn and other such hotel chains never learnt? Better have a few M & S sandwiches on offer rather than serve us insults. PS. by the time breakfast arrives it is cold and rigor mortis has set in with the bacon.

Stayed here for 1 night By far worst premier inn we have ever stayed in. Lady on reception on arrival very rude. Reception area really dirty. Allocated us a room which smelt so strongly of paint it made us feel ill. Dust everywhere could write your name in it. Very dirty. Bathroom floor sticky. So much for COVID clean. Room was very hot window not open. This hotel should advise that there is NO tv in the room as it does not work no signal which looks like is an ongoing problem. Lady on reception in the morning lied about everything said TV usually worked and that the room had been checked before allocated. This definitely did not happen as I booked the room on arrival and she did not go to the room to check. I have contacted environmental health regarding the stay as with COVID I presumed there would be a degree of assurance that the hotel and room would be clean. Disgraceful.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. Sorry to hear that you experienced problems at check-in, and with the cleanliness of your room on this occasion. The size of the room was amazing & very big (Room 117). Unfortunately the location of the room wasn't great! We was right above the kitchen & extractor fan units. We had to shut the windows to try & drown out the noise so didn't get much sleep! Was woken up about 6am with the kitchen staff clattering around, cleaning equipment & noisily talking!

I would stay there again but definately not in that area of the hotel.

Breakfast was very well laid out (due to Covid) & tasted very nice 😀

I stayed here for 4 nights in July 2020. The wifi didn't work properly (or at all). The staff said, "It's on the to-do list" and "It's because of Microsoft." It didn't get mended. The TV (Freeview) reception was terrible. Sky News worked reasonably well (not perfectly) in my room. Otherwise it was mainly "no signal" and "check aerial cable" messages or occasional broken blocks of picture. The shower took ages to warm up and then did an impression of light drizzle. Like most hotels, this one encourages you to reuse the towels. However, unlike most hotels, there is no heated towel rail in the bathroom. In fact, the towel rails are terrible. Their width is only a third of the width of a bath towel, so you can't spread your towel out on them for drying. A receptionist told me to dry my towel on the radiator in the bedroom. The problem there was that it wouldn't produce any heat. As it was July, this was understandable. During the Coronavirus period you can't visit your friends' rooms. The snag is that the hotel has no public seating at all. Luckily, during our stay, the Brewers Fayre restaurant reopened (with a reduced menu) and we used it as a place to sit as well as to eat.

Premier Inn rooms very comfortable and attached Old Nelson Brewers Fayre great place to use the Premier Inn meal deal. The food was very good and Abbey and her colleagues provided a great service. The two course meal deal works very well especially as breakfast is on the deal and kids eat breakfast for free👍

Super staff welcome and sustained care made us feel very much at home for our 6night stay.
Broadly all staff in the hotel and restaurant couldn't have done more for us. A necessary change of room was facilitated quickly and with much support. A small issue with cleanliness of crockery and cutlery in the restaurant (buffet services) - rectifiable with review of machine dishwasher practices - so not reported until leaving due to everything else being so good. Recommended due to brilliant staff.

We walked from the railway station not too far (.5 mile) but had trouble working out where the reception was (poor sign post location) it was very strange to find it was at the rear of the building & being on foot a bit odd to find we had to walk in the road (no pavement) to the car park (as did another guest in front of us who also had trouble locating the reception). This hotel did not have any (as far as I could see) have any rooms that did not require using stairs & the layout (room location) was a bit confusing. Our room was a reasonable size but had a window which only gave a view of a wall/windows opposite (8'-10' away) so was a bit light restricted. As expected the bed was lovely & comfortable, plenty of pillows & clean sheets/duvet. The room was clean but the shower room needed more cleaning especially the toilet. The floor in the shower room (laminate) was very creaky, sounding especially loud in the middle of the night. Shower gel was nicely scented, the shower was a good size not too slippery & the water pressure & temperature was good.Good clean white towels. Hair dryer next to a good sized mirror. Tea/coffee (none were caffeine free which was available in reception as was any top up required on a help yourself basis ), milk, sugar/sweetners. Only one chair. Good size TV. The onsite restaurant 'Brewers Fayre' can be booked at reception evening meal/breakfast, we just turned up for breakfast after the busy time 10:30 ish, there is a good choice of breakfast items, help yourself cooked breakfast buffet style (sausages/bacon/fried& scrambled eggs/hash browns/button mushrooms/beans)/cereals, croissants, toast, jams, yogurts, fruit juices tea a serve yourself multi choice coffee dispenser. The tables were a bit worn & could do with replacing but overall the breakfast was great value & the quality was good & at a good price. I would stay here again if back in Stroud, but would ask for a room with better outlook.
