I'm being lazy here and cutting and pasting my review from last year with a few modifications. One of the reasons for choosing the Wellington was it's proximity to Newhaven ferry port, just 10 minutes drive. The choice of 10 hand pulled beers plus the price attracted me as well, I must admit. Nice welcome from the helpful barmaid. Entrance...

Refreshingly, this is one of the few pubs in Seaford that is focussed on giving its customers what they want rather than having a take it or leave it attitude. The staff are polite and are focussed on their work. The place is well maintained, clean, comfortable and welcoming with good fayre on offer at a fair price. Different days...

Arrived at 13-40 after a long drive, double parked outside as there was no parking to be found anywhere, then only to be told by a member of staff that nobody gets to book in before 14-00.Fair enough I suppose, but not even a suggestion to unloaded our luggage, and when asked about parking, was told to just park on the street! This...

We stayed at the Wellington for 4 nights in September. The hotel is 3 minutes from the town and the beach. The room was lovely, everything was there that was needed to be comfortable. The welcome from staff and their friendly attitude throughout the stay was great. The pub itself is very popular and busy every night of the week....

Like others my wife found the bed a little "lumpy" but it was OK for a couple of nights, there is some road noise in the morning as most of the rooms look out over a road that is quite busy, but we've been in much worse. The pub gets very busy, it seems to be a popular place to...

Lovely room. Beautiful view. However the mattress was very uncomfortable, which was the only thing that let the stay down. Given this we would come back, and hope the mattress situation changes. Read less Likes: Good TV channels. Lovely hot shower with lots of complimentary shower gels etc. A wonderful breakfast and great attentive staff. Dislikes: Bedding was poor. Pillows...

Great pub with character and atmosphere and a good range of beers - a mere stones throw from the beach. Excellent service from friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and spacious rooms and superb breakfasts!

This is a thriving local community pub a couple of minutes walk from the seafront. We stayed in Room 104, which is facing the sea. This room is directly above the main bar, so is not for you if you are early to bed. All the other rooms also face the front of the hotel but open out onto the...

Went for a beer and wanted to pay with Northern Irish/English Pound, which is the same then English Pound. But the waitress, very unfriendly, refused to take them! Like it is not the same Country!!!! Because Irland (the Country) has Euro as Currency.

We had some initial doubts about its pub site but it turned out to have an excellent room, very modern and clean, recently refurbished and fully equipped. Friendly staff. Really excellent value. We were impressed.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Wellington is a traditional pub with 4 rooms offering comfortable bed & breakfast accommodation combined with an atmospheric bar and an excellent dining experience. The Wellington is centrally located in Seaford, close to the sea and makes an excellent base for exploring East Sussex. ** Please note: The Wellington does not have its own car park, but there are however 2 car parks located close by and street parking right outside ** The town of Seaford is a quiet seaside resort in East Sussex, U. K. It is located on the foot of the South Downs, a range of hills stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne. It is a great place to have a break. These days the town is sometimes overshadowed by nearby Newhaven, as one of the main ports on the South Coast. During the middle ages, however, the main port was Seaford. The town gained its importance as the mouth of the river Ouse, but this importance was not to last. The river suffered from silting, which made traffic difficult, and the town also suffered from repeated attacks by French pirates. The town was repeatedly burned down and rebuilt in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. In those days the locals had a reputation for looting and causing shipwrecks. For many, the main attraction in Seaford is the beach. This has an obvious attraction in the summer, when the sea reaches temperatures up to 20 degrees Celsius. But the sea is equally attractive in the winter. The town has a shopping centre, with enough shops to spend a good afternoon looking around. If shopping is a must, both Eastbourne and Brighton are about half hour away on either side of the town. For the out-and-abouts there is plenty of hills to get on with, as we are situated at the foot of a hill range called the South Downs. The Seven Sisters Country Park is just around the corner, and so is the famous Long Man of Wilmington, a massive feature carved out in the rocks. ... more   less
