What a lovely and charming place to stay. Accommodation is in the oldest part of the house above the tea rooms, accessed by a private staircase (watch your head on the way up - especially if you're over 4'6" tall!) there are three very comfortable rooms - two doubles and a twin - with a shared bathroom/shower and separate WC....

Have stopped here for lunch on several occasions. Friendly welcome, great fresh food and competitive prices. Recommended for cream teas as well. Dogs welcome. Definitely worth seeking out as it is not an obvious cafe to easily see when strolling through the village.

We had a wonderful night at chestnuts . Rooms were ample and the breakfast cooked to order . However due to a mix up they only had us booked for one night .... lucky the owner caught us before we went out for the day . Sadly we had to leave but he was helpful in finding us rooms down...

Nice people. Excellent breakfast but the entrance is right on the busy, narrow High Street which runs through the village. It is extremely dangerous to even pull up outside and unload your luggage as it will block the road and cause congestion. The nearest safe parking is at least 300 yards away which, when it is raining or you are...

Sorry you had such a disappointing experience. The building is old and built before cars existed and so parking was not an issue at that time. Our guests are able to pull up and unload luggage and/or passengers as most who come to us by car do, both for the B&B and Tea Room. It is a busy road during...

Stayed on our first night of walking the South Downs Way. Warm welcome, hot shower, comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast and a good packed lunch to keep us going the next day. Every book you could think of is on the shelves!

This was a one night stop over , The room is the en suite and did not disappoint. Clean fresh double aspect room over looking the high street although busy during the day quietned down and we slept well in the huge comfy bed. Usual tea facilities and telly. The shower room was fresh spotlessly clean. Alfriston is an amazing...

Just went for a lovely walk around Alfriston and came across chestnuts . It's very cosy inside and snug . The staff are very attentive and the tea served in China teapots with a tea cosy on with China cups and saucers ( love it ) reminds me of my late grandma's. We ordered the Breakfast and at £6.50 it...

Very friendly, comfortable and quiet. Free wifi which is an important point as there is no mobile signal there (I'm on Virgin). Good breakfast which can be served from 7 am. That's important to me as I tend to wake up early and don't like waiting around to get breakfast before getting moving on the next days walking

Set in a really beautiful village. Very cosy and compact. Large bed king size bed was good but the room did feel cold. Very nice cooked breakfast. Child friendly tea rooms. Very pleasant hosts. Nice area to walk in.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you found the room cold, the heating is thermostatically controlled and we usually have people ask us to turn the heating off! I wish you had said something, it only takes a minute to turn heating up and we are always happy to do so on request.

Can't fault this fantastic little place. Went for brunch with my friends, I piled in with pram and baby and they were incredibly welcoming. I'm dairy free and they had loads of options for me to have off the menu, offered 2 different milk alternatives to have with my tea and the most delicious dairy free cakes! I will definitely...
