A beautiful hotel in a great location - perfect place for relaxing and a great base for some stunning walking. We stayed two nights over Easter to celebrate a friends birthday, I really wish we could have stayed a week. The staff are wonderful, the restaurant has a good menu, with a wide choice (we ate in the restaurant twice...

We stayed here for one night on the 2nd March in rooms 3,4 and 5. We have to say that the staff were really friendly and attentive, the whole place had a really nice atmosphere. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was very good and enjoyed by all of us. We booked rooms 3 and 4 as...

Dear gorgemuffin, thank you for your review. We're sorry you enjoyment was tempered with the balcony. You can see that it is one balcony when you see images of the front of the house. Being a period house we don't have the desire, or indeed the consent of the heritage agencies, to rip out the original sash windows to create...

Dear johnhorwood, we're sorry you were disappointed with your stay at Wingrove. As we told you we don't normally have bars of soap in the bathrooms as this has proved to be a dated requirement and a bit of a slip hazard; we do have bars of soap if you would care to have one and we did give you...

This is our second visit here. We returned because the place has excellent beds, excellent showers, the food here is top-notch, the staff very friendly and it's in a superb location, at the base of an idyllic rural village in the South Downs. It's a great place to stay whether you're using it as a base for walking or just...

Wanted to take my partner somewhere special on Valentines day. Wingrove House was recommended to me. From start to finish this venue was superb! We were greeted at the front door, and shown to the beautiful lounge with roaring open fire, where we had drinks whilst we chose our food from the menu. The food and service were second to...

I love the look of Wingrove House. It reminds me of a southern plantation house although the weather in Alfriston in January soon put a stop to that. Inside it's equally gorgeous. I remember a couple of years ago asking to look at the bedrooms and thinking then what a stylish place it was. It still is. The lounge is...

Dear DubaiSue, we are pleased your overall experience of Wingrove was a joyous one. You'll be glad to know that the coral isn't real, just a very clever faux! Our menu (and petit four choices) do change regularly, keeping everything seasonal. We very much hope you will come and see us again for lunch on the terrace (soon to be...

A warm welcome but it went downhill from there. We enjoyed coffee on the verandah outside our room, but were surprised to find the tray still there on returning from the restaurant. Maybe it would be removed when our early morning tea (offered by reception on our arrival) was delivered but this never appeared. The bathroom: three tissues in the...
