We had 3 nights at the Grand, the hotel is very tired and urgently needs some money spent on it. The bed was very, very uncomfortable, I did report this to the staff and was told that they were replacing some beds....... The shower was awful, kept going hot and cold. On the bright side the staff were lovely and...

We visited the Grand Hotel Swanage for a long weekend last week to celebrate my parents 70th Wedding Anniversary. Our rooms both had the most fantastic sea view and view across the bay towards the town. The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable as was the rest of the hotel, which had a calm, and friendly atmosphere. All the staff...

The Grand is situated in an elevated position, overlooking Swanage bay, on the eastern edge of the town. It is a 20 minute walk from the town centre, railway and bus station although there is a bus route/stop just 4 mins. from the hotel. Whilst the hotel could do with some modernisation, particularly in the bedrooms which were very clean,,...

Last Autumn, 2014, I began looking for a Hotel in the Purbecks to accommodate 48 members of our walking group in September 2015. I found the Grand Hotel on the internet and my husband and I decided to go to have a look at the hotel before making a decision. The hotel itself looked a little tired but the location...

The grand is the only hotel of any Size in Swanage but is sorely in need of a refit. As with other reviews staff are good but the whole place is shabby and not in a chic way. In the conservatory there are broken window catches that have been like that for three years. Overall it needs a decent refit...

We booked a short stay with friends, we opted for sea view and evening meal, Having not stayed at this hotel before I had some concerns about food standard, I need not have worried, the food was excellent. at breakfast they cooked what ever we asked for and this was complimented by a good range of cold buffet. Dinner in...

I booked a double room at The Grand Hotel Swanage for my husband's birthday at the beginning of September. We had previously been to Swanage and loved it there plus I had made a dinner reservation at The Pig on the Beach as a surprise and wanted somewhere locally to stay. I had read the reviews about the hotel before...

We booked two nights here this week having stayed at this hotel last year. We had a lovely time, some of the comments about this hotel are rather negative. However the beauty of this hotel is it's character and charm and it's fantastic location overlooking Swanage Bay. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely with...

I really wanted to like this place, I really did because the staff were all so lovely but alas, staff alone, a decent hotel doth not make. We stayed for two nights in one of the Twin Sea View Rooms and to say this room hadn't seen a cleaner other than Mrs Overall (Two Soups) in a while was the...

Building a little tired but has atmosphere and charm. Views are outstanding. The food is very, very good indeed. Staff, polite, extremely friendly and offer excellent customer service. Nothing is too much trouble for this hard working, professional team. Will most definitely return for a longer stay. Thank you so much.
