I would like to start by saying that the staff were very polite and helpful. We stayed overnight on the 30th November and were allocated room number "one". If you are visiting in cold weather, avoid this room at all costs. The radiator is undersized for the room area and barely reached a warm temperature. I checked that it was... More

Room clean and well serviced daily. Nice and warm. Room 15 great view of Bournemouth town and sea. Been back several times as we love the location, you can walk in any direction and great beaches too. Fabulous varied breakfasts, with a great choice of cereal, pastries and cooked food, also lots of tea and toast. Staff also cheery and... More

Have been for lunch at The Commodore and it baffles me as to how you can get a jacket potato so wrong!! It was obvious that it was pre baked and then just microwaved to "warm" it up. The skin was extremely hard and the potato was so dry we had to ask for butter. Which didn't make any difference... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Things got off to a poor start when the flowers and chocolates I had ordered to be in the room on arrival were not there. Apparently this information, booked on line, had not been passed on to the hotel. We finally got them 4 hours later!... More

Went on a Saturday and were told by lady behind bar that roasts were reduced on a Sunday after 5pm to £5.99. Bargain we thought, and this timing suited us as we would be out all day, so we rocked up on the Sunday at 5.05 (literally just passed the hour) only to be told when ordering that the reduced... Room with a sea view. Perfect for a short break enjoying outstanding sandy beaches. Food in pub/restaurant is average (pub grub) - service a bit slow but great breakfasts. The Eggs Benedict was yummy. Clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The towel rail in the bathroom was red hot all day!!! Great mid winter maybe but too hot for us!... More

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend, (four nights) and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in room 16 which has both a sea view and Bournemouth pier in the distance. We parked in the small carpark and walked several miles each day. The Sunday night quiz was fun, food was good and the weather stayed dry.... More

We have just stayed here for 2 nights and the service we received from Chris and his staff was excellent. The room was very comfortable. There was a good choice of food for breakfast. We also had evening meals and the quality of the food was very good. The hotel is in an ideal position, right on the sea front... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commodore Hotel Southbourne near Bournemouth is on the Dorset cliff tops at Southbourne adjacent to the cliff lifts and Fisherman's Walk with easy access from the A31 and A338. The spectacular views across Poole bay take in Swanage to the West and Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight to the East. The Commodores location, close to the New Forest, and Bournemouth town centre, makes it an ideal base from which to explore Hampshire and Dorset. The Commodore was built in 1928 and was originally called Crawford's Tea Rooms. In the war it was used to house serving American airmen. In the early 50's an extension was added and it became Crawford's Bar and Hotel. Not long after that, it became The Commodore Hotel. A very popular holiday location. There is limited car parking provided by the hotel but ample on-street car parking within a few minutes walk. ... more   less
