We had a lovely lunch here during a trip to Dartmouth. The staff were lovely, food was on the pricey end but didn't mind paying it as it was so nice! I had the crab sandwich at it was great - really fresh tasting. Everyone was accommodating of our larger group (6 adults and 2 young children) and we really...

We were lucky enough to stay here overnight during our latest section of walking the SWCP - it would be difficult to find a better place to stop on the whole path. We had a spacious, well-appointed and immaculate room and were looked after very well by the friendly staff. Not sure you could ask for anything more.

This was our first stay at Bayards Cove Inn. Historically we have stayed in the best hotel however Bayards exceeded our expectations in spades. To say that our stay was enjoyable would be an understatement. The team at Bayards are first class; service second to none. The location is ideal and the room quaint. Our three night stay was a...

This is an atmospheric old world inn in Dartmouth but still has every modern convenience you could wish for. The building is several hundred years old with heaps of atmosphere but our room had a recently refurbished bathroom & wifi was good. Great place for a drink in the evening & breakfast in the morning was fantastic! Heartily recommended.

Stayed for two nights at the hotel, our first visit to Dartmouth. Our room was clean and comfy. The shower was good. Breakfast was tasty and varied, one morning we had cooked and the second the continental. We took advantage of the garage opposite to park our car as parking is quite difficult. Although you have to pay a little...

Lovely decor and ambiance. Very cosy. Food looked lovely but.... hot chocolate was warm not hot, as was the coffee. Gluten free brownies were rock hard. Staff made you feel you were doing them a favour by being there and were surly.they huffed and puffed a lot when clearing the table just not a great feeling.

I asked for half a beer shandy for my 84 yr old Mum, after waiting approximately 5 minutes while they changed the barrel, my Mum was presented with a pint of beer shandy! Typical younger not listening to the customer! Thought it was exspensive when he asked for £9.10!! Even my larger looks flat!

We booked this hotel at last minute since a business trip was unexpectedly extended. The hotel/restaurant is located in an old (but tastefully/sympathetically) modernised building. Parking in Dartmouth is a problem, especially near Bayards Cove - best solution is to either: leave car on single yellow to unload car (NB: be careful not to block access to cove or ferry)...

We were served with the worst mussels that I have ever experienced. They were shrivelled to the size of a small pea and the liquor was tastless. We decided that they were not worth th effort of eating, we paid and left informing them of our disappointment. No reduction of the bill was offered. I am very surprised that the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This small friendly hotel is one of Dartmouth’s oldest and most interesting buildings. It was originally constructed as a Tudor merchant's house and would have been a welcome sight when the Pilgrim Fathers stopped off at Bayards Cove on their way to America in August 1620. The hotel is conveniently situated in Bayards Cove in the centre of this lovely town, with the market and main shopping area only a short level walk away. Guests are sure to enjoy the unique character of the hotel and its thoughtfully refurbished luxury rooms, all of which have freeview, televisions and DVD players, and some also enjoy views over the water of the cove. ... more   less
