My daughter and I stayed one night recently in The Sloop Inn. We had come to Cornwall on the sleeper train so arrived at The Sloop around 8.30 a.m. Reception staff were very friendly and fortunately for us our room was ready as it hadn't been used the night before so we were able to have access right away. Our...

We stayed only one night in the Midshipmans and from our arrival were so shocked at the state of the accommodation. To get to our room we went through a door marked residents only which opened onto the outside drinking area and up some stairs. The carpet on the stairs was filthy and ripped. Our room was a tiny white...

Querky rooms looking over the harbour. A restaurant that delivered great food (well at least our sea food platter was out of this world) served though by one lady who ran it all in a autocratic style of her own. In contrast the receptionist at the hotel was quite superb. Her 'sat-nav' instructions down to the harbour were outstanding.

We went for lunch at The Sloop today and when ordering food for four in the bar the barman kept walking out of view with no explanation whatsoever, it was a bizarre experience but I assumed that as he wasn't writing anything down, he was going to the kitchen to confirm they had what we wanted. Not once did he...

Absolutely disgraceful service. Refused to allow a pram in to the pub despite it being quiet inside. The "welcome" reception was simply "don't bring your pram in, its policy". Well you lost out on a table of 8 for lunch. Avoid at all cost. Thankfully had an amazing welcome and delicious food at the Pasta / Pizza restaurant just up...

Having arrived in St Ives and wandering around the town we saw lots of people enjoying the sun sitting outside this old world looking pub, so we ended up there as well. There isn't much room out front, to say the least it was cosy. But the good selection of real ale beer was good, the drinks were not horrendously...

Visited this pub today and wow what a lovely place. Staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was delicious and beer was great. You must visit this pub if your in the area, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Keep up the great work 😉 xx

This pub hasn't changed in donkey's years! Traditional pub serving local beers, good selection of wines and spirits. Good selection of food on the menu from pub grub classics like cod & chips, burgers and steaks to some really nice seafood specialities. Highly recommended to those who enjoy their food in a traditional pub.
