I spend a night in this sort of hotel in a double room for £102. Nobody stands at the reception, we had to go to another hotel to check-in in the Berties lodge! the room carpet is very dirty and worn, the bed is unstable, the ceiling painting was peeling off. No bedside tables, no tables, no chairs, no wardrobe,...

After paying £135.00 for a night... surely I would at least expect to get some towels... but nope... got to Rent it first for an additional £5.00 each... First time I encountered this... Room was ok but very basic... as the reception lady told us when I asked for towels... they only provide the basics "which is beds and blancket"...

We just needed to crash somewhere for one night and it was ideal. Not luxurious rooms but get what you pay for. Very confusing hallways and had to check-in in next door Hotel Victoria reception. Had some drinks in next door Berties Bar and had food from across the street, it was so convenient ! Just wish there could have...

What is the point of writing reviews if trip advisor publish any old rubbish? The 4 reviews from the lads in Sept are obviously made up yet now Berties has four 5 star ratings! TripAdvisor used to be good and I contributed a lot but now don't bother as most of reviews appear made up. And I bet they don't...

Ignore the recent reviews, this lodge has had a full renovation and is the last word in luxury, quality and understated style. From beautiful carpet that makes you want to walk everywhere bare foot to the gorgeous fully tiled bathroom suite, this accommodation is perfectly positioned at the quiet end of town, making it an ideal retreat for those who...

Who knew that such luxury could be had so cheaply! Stag do's, couples weekends, hell why not take the kids! Berties has all bases covered! After a good night's sleep on what can only be described as the finest Egyptian cotton, you can head to the bar and have a ritz-esque breakfast for £5 all you can eat! Challenge accepted!...

Where to begin? From the plush pillows, quilts and mattresses, to the quality craftsmanship of the bunkbeds, to the multi-colour grout in the shower that was definitely cleaned once, everything about "the lodge" screams quality and comfort. Highly recommended for any gentlemen's weekends away or honeymooners.

Wow, what can I say - comfortable, modern, luxury - a dream for families, couples and honeymooners. Would thoroughly recommend for anybody looking for a quiet, relaxing break in this sleepy, quaint holiday town.

This place is ideal for stag dos - which is seemed everyone knows! Nice place - felt like I was back at uni and little bit. Staff nice. Very central. Centrally located and there was not loads of noise at night which was surprising as there were loads of stag dos booking the hostel.

We stayed in early 2016 as a Stag party of 7, and had the most amazing time. We arrived later than planned and the staff were most welcoming. The group room we were allocated was spacious, clean and accommodating - even the lack of a lock on the bathroom door made our stay at Bertie's better than we could imagine.
