This hotel was very handy for the City Centre and shops and surrounded by good pubs and restaurants. It was very clean and offered a guest lounge with TV. However although very clean and comfortable the rooms were quite small and old fashioned. However, for the budget we had we found good value for money and enjoyed the breakfast very...

Well actually I could have thrown a brick from the station and it would have landed at the front door of the hotel. So close and convenient for my annual military reunion trip to this historic city. OK it`s not five star but just fine when you have had a few jars of the local real ale, if you are...

My wife and I have just returned from a night out in Chester with friends. We booked The Belgrave Hotel to stay over. I have never been to a hotel in such a state of disrepair, filthy, drab and outdated as this hovel. I went to Reception to complain about the state of our room and was told by the...

I am reviewing this based on what it sets out the be, not comparing it to the Hiltons of this world. Did it have the most comfy bed? No, but it was adequate. The bed room was small but adequate for a solo traveler who just needs somewhere to rest his head. The staff were all friendly and efficient. The...

I stayed there this week. (As a side note, it is out of date, smelly, in need of new new carpets and decor and the single rooms are the size of a walk in wardrobe, corridors with steps in complete darkness - I fell down three steps with a guitar in my hand). On my arrival i realised i had...

My husband booked this for himself and his cycling friends because they do dormitory type rooms and will store your bikes and luggage. When my friend and I arrived to join them and saw the place we almost thought of sleeping in the car. It's not actually dirty but very run down. The bathrooms are tiny, mouldy and our towels...

Look, if you're after 4-5 Star opulence don't stay at the Belgrave, stay across the road at the Queens Hotel, and pay for the privilege. If what you are looking for is somewhere cheap to stay the night very close to Chester train station, then this hotel fits the bill. There is nothing flash about the Belgrave, it's probably the...
