Underwhelmed. This is my 2nd review as the 1st has been removed. Superior rooms are of a good size but no luxury touches as promised in advertising. Lovely bathroom but a shame sink was totally blocked and had been for a while as tiles removed and botched repair evident. Lifts unavailable. Vastly overpriced considering the building is under renovation. None of the photos on site represent the current condition. We weren't told about the works until after we had paid in full on a non refundable booking. When trying to ring to enquire about renovation the phone was never answered. Food was cheap products and lacked a stocked continental selection. Breakfast staff were very attentive and extremely pleasant. Sadly disappointed at everything else. Close to railway station but that is the only plus point.

Hotel's Favourite
The staff are very friendly , we were upgraded and the room was very nice. The bed was comfortable and room was quite big. The TV was a bit small and the iron has seen better days. The bathroom was large with a separate bath and walk in shower. The hotel its self is full of history and they have a very nice garden which will be nice to sit out in the summer. Breakfast was buffet with plently of choice. We would definately stay here again

The website of nice cosy bar with fire is not what we got a few conference chairs scattered around no ambiance and dirty mugs with a coffee machine that didn't work or had run out of coffee. The bar/restaurant was divided by paper dividers which were ripped there was no ambiance in their either. The menu had been printed on A4 and despite being booked in for dinner and breakfast and having paid the £12 to park we left before the very limited fried offering of food and didnt stay in the hotel as it was not as advertised.

We bought package including 2 nights, breakfast, one evening meal and afternoon tea for two. After arriving we were a bit surprised the hotel is actually under reconstruction. We have got room 1603 on the sixty floor. The view from the room was really nice, the room it selves is a bit dated. But I really loved the idea each floor and room is named after king from different countries around Europe. The sixth floor is Russian kings. In my room there was a picture of Alexander III on the wall above the bed. The bed is comfy and breakfast is very tasty. The reception desk staff was not very friendly except one dark hair girl who was very kind and helpful. There is one issue which needs to be mentioned and it is only one working lift for this 7th floor tall building. In general I had very nice stay and will come back again.

Had a great stay at the Queen @ Chester, starting with my request for an early check in being dealt with excellently by Eliza on Reception. The room was excellent, nice bathroom/ shower & bath, nice snacks in the room and bottled water. Breakfast on Saturday, Sunday & Monday was an excellent standard, Bacon, Fried Egg, Scrambled Egg, Hash Browns & Sausage with Marmite on toast and lovely black coffee, In the Bar had a couple of drinks and a Lasagna with chips on Sunday very nice too. All in all a very nice 3 night stay in a very individual Hotel, the Staff at Breakfast and in the Bar (Liam) were all excellent, pleasant and helpful. Obviously slightly disrupted because of the ongoing refurbishments, I was in one of the newly refurbished rooms.

What a disappointment, but on a positive note, I have learned an expensive lesson by not checking recent reviews on TripAdvisor and photographs on Secret Escapes do lie. There are multiple things wrong with this hotel at the moment, I'll let you see other peoples reviews. My last stay in Chester was in the Weatherspoons hotel, half the price and a superior breakfast.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The service was fantastic and all questions we had were handled well and breakfast was excellent too. Highly recommend this hotel. We were there for 4 days and when we had a small issue eveything was handled with care and quick. Asked questions about public transport, Chester city map and all was answered accordingly. Well done

This was the first time we've stayed here for a couple of years. We stayed in a Superior room as we have many times before. The room does look a little tired now and in need of a spruce up. All of the staff were great, especially those in the breakfast room. The continental breakfast was good with a nice selection of cereal, fruit, yoghurt and pastries. A cooked breakfast was also available. All was good quality and tasty but the fried eggs were not runny and the scrambled was like rubber. The biggest problem we had was that we were there for four nights and housekeeping didn't come in our room once. We did complain at the check-in desk but it didn't work, they just gave us more tea and coffee. It's still a good hotel and we will stay again but standards are slipping.
