We had a lovely stay here, with Yvonne being an excellent host, a lovely friendly helpful lady. Unfortunately Yvonne is giving this place up after 7 years and is keeping the place going while the owners try to find someone to take it on. It would be a shame if this place ends up closing for good, as it has...

Lovely pub with beautiful clean and quiet rooms above. Great food with big portions and a friendly smile and service throughout. Was a pleasure to stay. Location was lovely and the bed very comfortable.

The welcome was warm and the food on offer plentiful, however the room was tired looking and everything seemed a little amateurish. Also, the access to the rooms is via step narrow stairs, so may be unsuitable to anyone with mobility difficulties. The whole experience could be improved with only a little more investment in time and effort.

What a lovely place to stay! So friendly. Room was very nice, and for a small hotel all needs were catered for even down to the supply of bath robes, tea making facility in room, bathroom well stocked. It's the little things that show they go the extra mile to make your stay so relaxing. Food is very good! Would...

We stayed here as we were going to a wedding so didn't spend much time in the hotel/pub. The place itself only has 5 rooms, we stayed in the Raven suite which is set over two floors. It has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Each room is a decent size, the bathroom was quite big considering the size...

Friendly staff on arrival, but was disappointed with the room, was supposed to be a superior double. The furniture was mismatched, dusty, cobwebs, stains on bed cover . The carpet was stained. Not worth what was paid. The food on the evening was nice and good value. There was a strong smell of burning in the room particularly on one...

We stayed for one night whilst doing a course down the road. Lovely place, very nice landlady! Room was lovely, apart from being up 2 flights of stairs! Very clean, spacious. Fabulous shower and had a hairdryer (good as I'd forgotten mine!) Breakfast was also great and plentiful. Also try the food, it's really good and home cooked!

We stayed here for my birthday. It's kind of become a tradition as we stay every year and have done since we met. We now have a baby boy and explained this when we rang. The room we were placed in was directly above the function room which meant very loud noise and banging until 11pm. The bed was two...

Excellent food, very generous portions & friendly staff. All staff were very helpful, and were happy to accommodate a young child and find him things to play with. Very welcoming place, & prices reasonable too. Would definitely visit again.

To summarise 'The Stretton' was disappointing. In comparison to the photographs on the website the room was not up to scratch. Tea cups were dirty - didn't even look like they had been cleaned since the previous occupants stay. Don't even ask me about the teapot. The bed sheets were stained. The bed itself was supposed to be a double...

“We had the Stretton, very spacious and well equipped-though we did find the shower a challenge!! We only live about 300Yds away but we had given up our house to our daughter & family so consequently 2 nights of peace & quiet with the bonus of no breakfast cooking!”

“From our experience, we would expect them all to be of a similar standard. We had the Stretton room which was situated on the front overlooking the High Street. The room was very quiet and we were surprised that we couldn't even hear any traffic noise.”
