After reading the reviews I wondered what I was letting myself in for. The Royal is no where near as bad as they said, or maybe I've just stayed in worse for more. The sheets were clean, the TV worked, the food was fine, I had a shower cubicle & even though the loos were shared they were clean too....

I booked this hotel for 2 of my workers. They stay all over the country & are used to staying in some dodgy places. However, they have never refused to stay anywhere before. They opted to drive 2.5 hours home & back again the following morning rather than stay here. It bears no resemblance to the photo's and from outside...

Having stayed in the Royal Hotel several times over the last few months, I feel that some of the more negative reviews posted here are a little harsh. While it's not the most modern or well decorated hotel you could stay in, it's well worth the £25 you pay for a single room. I've always found the staff both friendly...

This hotel if that's what you would like to call it should be shut down, Very smelly everywhere, poor carpets through out hotel, very dated, poor quality of rooms, filthy shower! our overall stay was bad! Never shall i or the FIVE other people stay here again.! Disgusting!!!

Ok, its not the Ritz but its a few miles from Bristol and its cheap, if you want somewhere plush then go to the Premier Inn but that'll cost you £80 a night!, what do you honestly expect for £25 a night?

I had a really great experience at this hotel, I had travelled all the way from Liverpool for a science practical exam on Frenchay campus and was feeling really nervous. When I asked the lady at reception in the morning could she tell me how to get there for my exam she told me she would take me in her...

We arrived late at night after flying down for a 2 day job. Got into the room and the smell hit me straight away. Bed was ok bathroom small and cramped. On the last night we had a curry front the takeaway across the road. Back at the room went to plate up and to cut a long story short...

Only had a drink there once. Couldn't stand the idea of staying on. I felt unsafe having left my car outside - will it be there after my pint is quickly downed? If you really want a treat, chaps, you should try the barber shop on the station platform. Having had you hair sawn off you'll probably be glad of...

A colleague and me had business in Avonmouth and saw that this hotel looked ok and was cheap. It is very basic, delapidated, and in need of urgent renovation. It's like something out of a 1950's seaside boarding house, without the good points. We are fairly rough and ready blokes and it even surprised us. The restaurant ambience reminded me...
