A terrific spot which I visited with friends on a hike from Nebaj towards Todos Santos. We stayed for one night and enjoyed the place very much. The location is beautiful and the owner, a French lady, is very gracious. We were treated to very tasty food, the drinks are very well priced and the lounge area is kept warm...

The best by far in the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes! wonderful people, food and best for off the beaten track hiking or horseback riding expeditions! I recently stayed here with my wife and kids, they enjoyed every minute, the sunset and the sunrise with the views from the Mirador! Unfortunately we had to leave, but will come back again. I...

I will have to say this place was quite an experience. At an altitude of nearly 10,000 ft. flat lander Floridians like my wife and me were a bit out of place. If you are not prepared for this you may find yourself a little short of breath or even experience altitude sickness. We did enjoy the simple meal provided...

What a great spot for a romantic getaway! We were there in the off season, and had the entire posada to ourselves. The corner room was perfectly cozy, as were the couches by the stove in the living room and the Adirondack chairs on the porch. Pauline and her staff simultaneously made us feel welcome while also giving us our...

The house, the view, the rooms, the landscape, the weather, all of it contribute to make it an unique experience. Far away from the civilization and surrounded by peace and the most pure air available in the country. It is possible to rent horses to make trips around the property from 1 day to a week. There is a weight...

This is an original place to stay and Pauline and her husband certainly made us very welcome. The rooms, horse riding and walking in the area are great. When we were there in December it we warm during the day but we certainly needed our hot water bottles at night ! The food and the company at mealtimes was really...

The Blue Unicorn offers you the chance to know the guatemalan highlands as probably none other hotel can do it. Included in the price there is one hour of horse back riding trough the nearby locations full of stunning views...

If you want to visit the highlands of Guatemala, this is the place. Located 40 minutes from HueHuetenango, in the Cuchumatanes, that is a 100% rural area of the country. The nearest town is Chiantla, 30 minutes from the hotel. You can also travel to the town Todos Los Santos, famous for its typical native dresses and textiles, an hour...

We stayed with my family, kids 10 and 15 and we all enjoyed our time there, so much that we have planned to return as soon as possible. Food is great, there is no menu, just the meal planned for the day which comes complete with a hearty hot plate of soup. Bring enough warm clothes, the common room is...

I spent two nights here on a trip that was attempting to explore some of the remoter parts of Highland Guatemala. I am not sure how many stars to award the Unicornio. I knew what I was getting into. I am not motivated by horse riding, which is probably the main reason anyone would come here. I wanted to see...

We thank you a lot, Chris (I mention the name because it appears publicly), for taking the time to share your experience in Unicornio Azul. You are very right to say that it is a quite austere place, not for anybody, something we try to explain in all the information we give to our potential guests. We know the lack...
