We left San Pedro Lodge with disappointment. The whole idea of the lodge is great: rustic, inexpensive and really close to nature but what they accomplish is far from what they want this to be. The staff was OK, kind and at your service but really unengaged. The lodge was really dirty, the bathrooms more then basic, with not even...

I was standing in front of my hotel of last night, at half past ten, when a man approached me with a big smile and asked: “Eres señorita Geerts?”. I smiled back at him, shook his hand, and went into his motokar (a kind of motorcycle with three wheels, where the two person’s backseat is covered with a plastic roof)....

It was really quiet and nice. Although the first night we decided to go to the main house at 5 pm. There was no one, no electricity no information and it started to get dark. Then de storm came and lightning and rain. We took shelter in the little village behind the Lodge. It felt like they didn't care, as...

We stayed here for 6 days, and did the package deal with the Yarapa River tour during our stay. When we arrived in Iquitos, we were met by the lodge at the airport and taken by motorkar and boat to the bungalows. We were greeted by a volunteer who was staying at the lodge for a month. The bungalows are...

I wanted to take my family to the Amazon and have them experience living in the jungle. After searching for a few weeks, my wife and I came across this lodge. Reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. Upon making the reservation, the owner Cato made contact with me to welcome my family and I to...

I spent 3 days here in September 2014 with my now husband (we actually got engaged on the trip in Machu Picchu). The first part of our 2 week trip to Peru was with a tour company (Lima, Cuzco, Puno), and the second part we did on our own to Iquitos and the Amazon. Let me just say that this...

I spent 3 days here and enjoyed my time immensely. The owner, Cato left the place in the capable hands of volunteers Michelle and Robin, cook Clara, Walter and Rudopho. Together with long term guest Dale, I was well looked after with their warm hospitality. There are a few straw roofed cabins, 2 directly beside the boat dock If a sparse...

San Pedro lodge is about 45 minutes by boat from the centre of Iquitos, and about 30-35 minutes by boat and taxi to the airport. The place is wonderful! Don't expect luxury at this place, but Cato, the volunteers and the 2-3 people from the nearby village that work there will certainly look after you. The food provided at lunch...

My good friend and I stayed at San Pedro and we had the most amazing time there! Cato, the owner, and the staff were so helpful and welcoming, we didn't want to leave the lodge! Their tours were amazing and we were able to see and do everything we wanted to in Iquitos. I highly recommend staying here, the lodge...

My spouse and I spent a week in the Sacred Valley, time in Lima and a week at San Pedro Lodge. Our time at the lodge was by far the most enjoyable. The Lodge is owned by a laid back Norweigan dude who goes out of his way to ensure guests are able to see and do what they want,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Pedro Lodge is a rustic lodge located at the end of a small river village inside the Amazon rain forest. The lodge is cozy and offers personalized service, providing accommodation for only 12 people at a time. All beds are equipped with a mosquito net, and you'll find a nicely equipped bathroom and shower in each bungalow. While at the lodge, enjoy leisurely visits to the local village, spot and listen to animals all around, have an afternoon swim in the river, relax in a hammock or join us on the many day trips that we offer. We are happy to offer free shuttle service from the airport/hotel to the lodge. The ride takes about 1 hour from the airport or 1 1/2 hours from Iquitos city center and is an adventurous route begun by motokar and finished by boat. We serve 3 delicious meals per day. Vegetarian meal is available upon request. The meals are all prepared with fresh ingredients and are made from scratch by our excellent chef Clari. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or any other dietary restrictions, so that we can take them into account. When you have arrived and settled in at the San Pedro Lodge, you can take a walk in the little town; San Pedro. The village is located just off the Nanay River, on a beautiful oxbow lake, or 'cocha'. San Pedro is a typical, quiet river town, with just 300 inhabitants, who grow their own food and make a living fishing and selling some of their fruits and vegetables at the market in Belen. There is no electricity yet. People here are content to provide a simple lifestyle for their families, living in their thatched-roofed wooden houses, fishing, hunting, and growing their crops. They enjoy sharing a few beers and a whole lot of laughs. The young play football or volleyball, while the older generation enjoys reminiscing, or sharing the occasional gossip. You are welcome to join any time! The people are friendly, very hospitable and curious to find out more about you. Learn about their history, their way of life, and join in a game of football, and you will make new friends for life. ... more   less
