We drive past this hotel so often, now that we live nearby, the car park is always busy, and every time we pass we say we must try there sometime. Well today was the day, being my own and a friend's birthday, we thought it would be a good place for ourselves and partners to have a birthday lunch. Having...

We were lucky enough to be giIfted 2 nights in this wonderful relaxed place. Big, comfortable room well equipped and tastefully furnished. Downstairs, the bar and restaurant delightfully quirky, a mix of big sofas, scrubbed tables & cosy corners. Big breakfasts and delicious dinners using fresh, local ingredients. The staff, helpful and welcoming, genuinely wanting us to enjoy our stay...

I have visited several times and have not been disappointed. The beer and the food are excellent. A meal plus pint may cost from as little as 12 pounds. British Pub food plus more elaborate dishes if you prefer.

I stayed here for four nights whilst on a photography course and it could not have been better. From the huge comfy bed to the gloriously spacious bathroom, the fresh milk for the coffee machine to the reasonably priced mini bar, everything made this stay a real treat. Breakfast included the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted, they were...

This is one of our favourite foodie pubs - the menu is always interesting, the staff welcoming and the atmosphere friendly and informal. We often drive past on our regular trips between Yorkshire & the Lake District, but today we phoned ahead (always a good idea at busy times) and called in for a late Sunday lunch on our way...

We went to the Restaurant to celebrate my father-in-law's 96th birthday - he likes small portions now! My wife needs a gluten free diet. I enjoy fish especially and our youngest son loves his burgers. We were all very well catered for and the ambience is a delightful example of "shabby chic" decor. The food is excellent and prices at...

Stayed overnight and had dinner bed and breakfast on the way to a wedding in Scotland. The room was beautiful and the bathroom very well appointed with roll top bath and double size walk in shower, lots of nice toiletries. A comfy bed and a coffee maker in the room made it really good. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Would...

This restaurant was always a particular favourite with locals in the area, and for many years ourselves, but from chatting to friends it seem we are not alone in noticing sadly the Plough is not what it once was. On arriving despite making eye contact at the bar the member of staff walked away and did not return for some...

Called for an afternoon drink, very busy for meals. Whilst we didn't eat, the food did look delicious and the menu was extensive, traditional roast lunch looked amazing and plentiful. Good atmosphere and nicely furnished. Will return for food next time!

We stayed overnight for dinner bed and breakfast. We were welcomed by friendly staff and shown to our room, Redman. The room and bathroom were large and situated at the rear of the premises. A very quiet night even though the main road at the front has a lot of passing traffic. Dinner was served in the large, tastefully decorated restaurant....
