We loved our one night stay here. We only had a short time to spend in the cloud forest area but we're glad we stayed here. You feel immersed in nature and you can leave windows open at night (they have screens) to feel the cool mountain air and hear all the sounds of nature. The free breakfast is amazing and delicious, don't skip it! Short walk down into town to explore restaurants, etc. We walked at night and felt perfectly safe, used our flashlight on our phones to be visible to other folks. The trail around the property is serene and peaceful. They have a deck where birds come to eat the fruit they put out and we saw several colorful birds, a coati and an agouti. The staff member working while we were there was super friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful room, although it wasn’t very spacious. The bed was comfortable. Great birdwatching location on the deck. Helpful staff, they gave great recommendations for restaurants and activities. The shower was only a trickle, though.

The staff is very nice and helpful. The views are beautiful of the jungle. There is a lot of wildlife around the hotel, often visible from the large windows in the rooms. There is a nice trail that winds through the jungle around the hotel. It is close to town, as well. the breakfast was good and the parking was sufficient.

Spectacular place! This is a sweet little haven in paradise. We saw a lot of wildlife and all kinds of birds during our stay. They have some feeders, but we saw nesting birds of all kinds. They have resident motmots and toucans. Fantastic food and great rooms with comfortable beds. Francisco took us on a bird tour. We are coming back next month.

We had an amazing trip to Monteverde and this hotel was a clean, quiet, and comfortable place to stay. The grounds are beautiful with lovely, secluded outdoor seating areas scattered throughout the property to take in the views and observe the abundant birds and other wildlife. Cala Lodge is within walking distance from several nice restaurants and a short, inexpensive taxi ride to the center of town. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were the best we had in our stay in Costa Rica with amazing homemade marmalade. The only (minor) complaint that we had was that our "mountain view" balcony was more a parking lot view, and had it been advertised as a room with a private balcony without mentioning mountain views we would not have been disappointed at all. Truly a hidden treasure for good value. Staff incredibly friendly, accommodating, attentive... Great breakfasts served on open air inside and veranda seating. Arranged inexpensive transport to hiking trails in Monteverde, Santa Elena, and Curi Cancha Cloud Forest Preserves. Surrounded by Rain Forest with trails. Bird Feeder and hummingbird flower gardens attracted many birds; a white-faced monkey appeared to rob fruit from an unattended plate! I want to thank Francisco & all of his welcoming, and friendly staff for an enjoyable stay near the cloud forest reserves. You all go above and beyond for your customers and make them feel welcome. This is basic lodging with clean, maintained rooms. We had a junior suite for 2 people and it included ample space. The view from our room was awesome. Breakfast was always good and they accommodate your every wish. It is included in the nightly rates. I feel it was a pleasure to have met all of you! Pura Vida!

We really loved this lodge. We got a junior suite room, with a great view! Kind people, great breakfast. Really enjoyed this place. They put some fruits on a stand in front of the terrace, where you can enjoy beautiful birds while eating your breakfast.

The Cala lodge was a perfect spot for my husband and I when we visited Monteverde. The hotel was very quiet, beds were very comfortable, and the staff was so friendly. The location is within walking distance to town but also nature preserves and hiking trails. We will definitely stay again next time we visit Monteverde!

I love Monteverde because it’s a green & peaceful place. I like to go at least once a year and Cala has been my to go place without a doubt. It’s a hotel placed within the peacefulness that characterizes Monteverde. Cala is always super clean, breakfast is amazing and their hospitality really stands out; plus they care a lot about sustainability. Definitely I will come back again and again.
