Comfortable room - really good facilities with additional sitting room, well-stocked coffee tray etc. Beds/pillows a little hard! Pub is small but good breakfast and excellent evening meal. Hosts friendly and polite. Well situated for visiting Hay-on-Wye, Hereford and Brecon and beautiful walking in the Wye Valley. Wifi signal not very good.

A typical red brick English Pub in the most idyllic Herefordshire countryside. We were greeted warmly by the genial host / owner (?) and given our key. The room was spacious, clean and boasted a lounge area complete with TV, two seater sofa, occasional table / wardrobe and desk. Tea / Coffee making facilities provided. Front window looked out on...

Popped in for lunch and decided on the roast beef. It took just short of 40 minutes for 3 roast meals to be served and to be honest the place was not packed. The meal was ok, standard roast and vegetables. Cost £10 for one course meal. Had a super garden where you can sit out and have your meal....

This venue was every thing we wanted for out motorbike trip, great location for Wales, the Brecon Beacons and more. The rooms were more then adequate with brew making facilities. The breakfasts were spot on and not over facing. The hospitality was second to none we arrived just after the kitchen had shut for evening meals but it wasn't too...

What a great welcome we were given here. We came for a 2 day day trip on motorcycles. Came late for food but this not a problem as sandwiches were made for us weary travellers. Fantastic rooms. Thanks for the good time. I would recommend to all. Would definitely come back!

My friend and I stayed here for one night whilst walking the Wye Valley Walk. Our room was spacious and we had a comfortable night here. Dinner I would say was over priced and not that great but breakfast was lovely, service friendly and helpful and we had a good night's sleep here.

We booked here rather last minute and it was pretty much all that was available in the area on the dates we wanted. The room was clean and we had a small private sitting room which was good to relax in. I think we were the only people in the hotel who weren't there to fish the River Wye and...

A fiend and I drove over from Eat Anglia to meet two others for a fishing trip. The big mistake was only staying for one night! The pub is charming, the rooms very nice (the shower in mine was large and very powerful). We had a picnic on the river bank on the first night but the breakfast was first...

We had a large room with separate living area where we stayed very comfortably for 5 nights. It was very quiet at night despite being a pub & we slept very well. The food was excellent, much better than normal pub fare. Our host was friendly & helpful & even posted my husband's jacket back to him at no cost...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Red Lion Hotel is situated in the tiny hamlet of Bredwardine, which nestles on the banks of the River Wye just twelve miles from Hereford, and 8 miles from Hay-on-Wye.Built of red brick, its origins lie in the seventeenth century when it was used as a coaching inn, also the lounge bears the name The Courtroom. This is where the circuit judge of the day used to sit in judgement. Our aim at the hotel has been to provide you with a peaceful haven in the tranquil heart of England away from the hustle and bustle of work and every day life. Whilst every effort has been made to combine this warm, congenial atmosphere with all the comforts and facilities of a modem day hotel, you will find that the Red Lion retains much of its old world charm including oak beams, and beautiful antiques with blazing log fires through the winter months. The reputation of our dining-room relies on well prepared home-cooked food, using as much fresh produce as possible and cooked to order by our highly regarded chef. You can choose from a varied range of meals off our menus, whether its at breakfast, lunch time or in the evening and remember to look out for our "Specials" board.Whilst situated in the heart of one of the most beautiful areas in the country there are a whole host of things to do and enjoy. These include Herefords Cathedral and the famous Mappa Mundi exhibition to the local Small Breeds & Owl Centre and of course a visit to Herefordshire would not be complete without a trip to Bulmers Cider Museum and for the more active amongst us canoeing down the magnificent river Wye.What ever the reason for your visit we are here to help you enjoy your stay and our beautiful county. ... more   less
