Great Motel!!! Very clean, getting updated and owner is super helpful. Bed was comfortable and everything was easy!!! We will be back to stay more. Beautiful views!!! Also very accommodating for Scuba diving. Has a great shower and hose outside for rinsing equipment.
This morning I tried to get in touch by phone with the Front Desk of the Horseshoe Bay Motel. Very early on in the morning I did get through but at that point I wasn’t ready to book a reservation. Later on I was and called back but I couldn’t get through. A message came on saying that I could leave my number and someone would phone me back. Unfortunately, I could not leave my number as the message mailbox was full. I tried calling again plus another number provided but no luck. An hour or so later I called back. The woman who answered seemed to be giving me the “bums rush out”. Saying she had my number. She’d call me back they were busy getting rooms cleaned. It was about a reservation on the 25th. I found this response shocking. I felt completely unheard and annoyed. My reservation wasn’t about the 25 at all. When I asked her to stop and listen to me she continued to block me and I continued to get more annoyed. At one point she stated that getting the rooms ready was the priority. I felt further annoyed and protested. She began saying how I shouldn’t be talking to her that way It wasn’t very nice. I determined that I should phone back when someone else is on the desk or just book somewhere else and hung up. For this woman potential customers don’t seem too high in her priorities. This woman’s demeanour put me on the defensive immediately. Things are worse than I thought if this is the kind of treatment customers are expected to tolerate these days.…
This hotel is CUTE! It’s quaint and felt clean. The location is amazing, and you can’t beat it if you’re catching the ferry. The ONLY negative was that is there is NO air conditioning. It was 30+ degrees when we stayed, and there were 4 adults staying in one room. There was one fan but all it really did was blow the hot air around, so it was just hot and windy inside the room. We didn’t sleep a wink that night. So just something to be aware of! There is also a little resident raccoon who was adorable, we enjoyed watching her from the balcony. Proximity to good food and drinks is great though.
Lovely, clean, and wonderful service. Thank you! We just needed a one night stay for our trip to Powell River and were so happy to happen upon this quaint location with kind and accommodating managers <3
The room was complete and quite spacious. Due to walking difficulties we asked for a room on ground level and that is was we perfectly got, even with a walk in shower which was perfect. The beds were also perfect (we had a twin room) and our stay was very quiet and we had 2 good nights sleep. No breakfast is served, but that is no problem because there are plenty of places around where you can have breakfast. I would reccoment this motel.
We initially booked one night here because it was close to the ferry. The service was fantastic, the room was great and we enjoyed the location so much that we altered our plans to stay here two additional times (rather than in Vancouver itself) during our road trip. The motel offers basic amenities, but has wifi and the room was clean and suited our needs quite well.
We stayed here as it was so convenient for the Horseshoe Bay Ferry to Vancouver Island, which we were taking at 6.30am the following morning. As others have commented, the motel has little kerb appeal and the rooms are tired. For what it is, it is overpriced and, in hindsight, we would have been better to stay closer in to Vancouver with a slightly longer drive in the morning. All the rooms face onto the well lit street and there is no blackout, the room doors have glass at the top with no curtain - we tried to hang a towel over the glass. The main light in the room didn't work and we had to share a coffee cup as there was only one. Our room was hot and stuffy. Horseshoe Bay itself is very pretty and there are plenty of places to eat.
Just stopped in with my three little ones in tow and we were greeted by Naomi and her sweet dog in the office. She went above and beyond in being so accommodating for us and we are so grateful. For the service alone we would recommend this motel to anyone staying in this area. AMAZING location (steps to the waterfront) and a short walk to the ferries. A hidden gem :)
This hotel is in a great location for exploring this part of Canada, it was clean and tidy and check in was effortless. However we stayed two nights and only saw a staff member at check inn, there was no housekeeping, no air con, and more important very poor WiFi, we have stayed in many cheaper hotels who had excellent WiFi . Free parking and 5 minute walk to all local restaurants.
We have been coming here every year for the last 5, used to think it was quaint but it is just becoming old. The furnishing's are attractive but have not changed in five years including everything else about the motel. I have recommended this hotel in the past but I think it's time for a little update like the beds, they are extremely firm and not very good quality. The office shuts down around 9pm and their is no phones in the room to call the desk with any questions or problems.
