My wife and I had booked with Number One House for our honeymoon because let's face it, that view is incredible even for a Chicagoan that knows something about a breathtaking city skyline. An unfortunate overbooking snafu left our plans in limbo, but after apologizing profusely, Brian offered up accommodations with his neighbors Rod & Carol @ 3 Princes Street....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Brian and Jay and truly felt like valued guests in their home. The breakfasts were beautiful as well as huge and great tasting; the advice for first time visitors to New Zealand was very, very valuable, and the room, as well as the entire home, was welcoming, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The view from...

Absolutely fabulous water views from every room! And every room is warm and inviting, comfortable, yet fabulous. My hosts were immediately "family" with excellent counsel on what to see and where to go. Just a short 10 minute ferry ride from the heart of the City of Auckland, yet far enough from the City to avoid all the noise and...

Brian and Jay were fantastic hosts. The views of Auckland Harbour from the Green room and from the Lounge / Breakfast area were exceptional. Breakfast was included and was fantastic.

We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary there. Stayed in the Green Room and had a wonderful relaxing stay. This was a stop on our "bucket list", and we kept comparing later stops on this vacation to how nice it had been in Auckland. One nice touch was the evening fire. Another was the elaborate fruit plates at breakfast. Helpful notes:...

Jay and Brian are wonderful hosts - their home becomes your home; they are both very relaxed and nothing is too much trouble. We stayed on arrival in Auckland and before departure, when we were greeted like old friends. The Green and White rooms are both lovely with all the comforts of home included and the choice of breakfast is...

A unique, lovely, unusual place to stay. We loved the outdoor feeling and views of the harbour, with proximity to downtown Auckland just minutes away by ferry. The neighbourhood is charming, great for walking, with a selection of restaurants and cafes. Best of all, your hosts. Full of information and suggestions, enthusiastic and entertaining, hardworking and entrepreneurial, Brian and Jay...

I had the pleasure of returning to Auckland Number One House for a brief 2 night stay a few weeks ago. This time, thanks to their generous upgrade, I stayed in the lovely and spacious “Green Room” with its awesome view and large bathroom across the hall. Brian and Jay greeted me like family, I was excited to visit with...

My wife and I stay here for two nights at the end of our vacation in March 2010. The house and or room has an amazing view of Auckland! Jay and Brian were great hosts and offered lots of advice for things to do in and around Auckland. The house is basically right under the Auckland Bridge, but we didn't...

I am a student producer who has been fortunate enough to use 1 Princes Street as an amazing film location. This house is stunning with its panoramic views of beautiful Auckland and the gorgeous native bush all around. With a few short steps you are on your own private beach and can dream the days away watching the sail boats...
