Good location with easy access to the motorway and Takapuna centre. Supermarket and gas station across the road. Recently refurbished so modern clean and tidy. But mould in the curtains and bathroom, sky tv didn’t work, no Freeview, and internet based services were intermittent. Served it’s purpose well enough but wouldn’t be first choice for future stays.

The online photo looks amazing and was excited to go there. The room was good but towels from day before were left in bathroom weren't taken away. Dishes not done and teabags not topped up. Ngrounds need a good tidy up.

...if you don't like people?

We have stayed here on previous visits, so had no hesitation in rebooking.

As always, we 'ph ahead as a courtesy, especially if arriving after a day's travel, to let our hosts for the night know we are on our way.

Imagine our dismay at recving a brusque response from the male proprietor, curtly informing us that if we hadn't arrived by 2030, we would be locked out for the (wet & miserable) night & our significant 75% deposit refunded - it wasn't explained how. It seems from another reviewer's experience, this wasn't an isolated instance of such unwelcoming conduct.

...& this from a self-styled 'International' establishment! (We were so taken aback, we forgot to ask if they rolled up the footpaths at night).

When we made the point that this uncharitable action would be reported on Tripadvisor, mein host did offer to remain open till 2100. However we arrived at the appointed hour of 2030. Our host's then immediate preoccupation was to collect the balance of his tariff, without so much as a mention of his guests' welfare or travel.

We then found ourselves lugging our suitcases up steep, close stepped outdoor stairs, in the cold & rain, to our 1st floor room. (We seem to recall mentioning ambulatory issues when we booked quite some time ago, to avoid this contingency, but will need to confirm this).

Anyway our room was of its usual spacious, clean & well appointed standard. There was a diminutive fan heater, but our room wasn't cold - perhaps due to being very well insulated?

The proprietoress, whom we met next morning, tho' busy cleaning rooms, was, in contrast, most helpful.

Perhaps our friend has forgotten who pays his bills - or no longer needs to care.

In which case, why stay in the 'accommodation' (remember) business.

The first 1 night stay was just acceptable. No cups in the room, no-one at check in, closes at 7.30pm. The second stay was supposed to be for 3 nights and on check I was advised that I did not make a booking for a disabled room. had to get my booking request out to convince the clerk that in fact I did book a disabled room! She then proceeded to make a phone call to?? and did not speak in English, so had no idea what she was saying! Finally they booked and alternative motel that did provide disable facilities

Wonderfully comfortable and clean, modern accomodation at a great price!
Just off the highway without being noisy, handy to everything. Free easy parking outside the door of my ground floor room.
Hosts went above and beyond to ensure a fantastic stay.
Definitely recommend to all.

Absolutely fantastic. This is a hidden gem. Extremely high quality decor with a shower and water pressure from your dreams. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. I would highly recommend staying here. Priced well and located in a great location.

I go to Takapuna for a seminar yearly, this accommodation was a lovely surprise. The price was in my budget and they kindly let me park there while I attended the seminar. I usually like to try new places to stay, but I think as it stands I would definitely book there again. Keep up the good work.

Easy to find via Google Maps and on the GPS. Spotted it from the traffic lights. Welcome was friendly and information about shops, etc. provided on request. Room spotless although well used. Just off the main road, so delightfully quiet at night. Best priced motel available when researched and a 5 minute walk to the conference venue. Beds firm and comfortable. Shower hot and powerful - great! Cooking facilities, which was a bonus. A very good experience.

I have used this motel on several occasions, both Medieval re-enactment events and shows. I like the place as it is clean, tidy and has a friendly manager who is quite helpful when it comes to local knowledge. I have stayed at other Takapuna mptels, but this is my preferred one. The only minuses is the tight parking and the fact that Google Maps & my GPS do not recognise the address(fortunately I now know how to get there!).
