We were in Lunenburg for one night on a family trip and had booked this online. The price was really reasonable, almost too good, but when we checked in I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and the staff very friendly. Many of the restaurants in the area also run boutique style hotels out of the upstairs locations, so in the style of the neighborhood check in is at the restaurant downstairs. The area was very quiet for sleeping and the location is in the middle of many other restaurants and also right on the waterfront. Would absolutely stay here again!

The brigantine inn lunenburg is well situated in the middle of this small village
Nice bar/ restaurant with patio overlooking the harbor front. Check in was a bit weird as you had to hunt down a bar waitress who doubled as a inn keeper as well. Rooms are above bar but it wasnt too noisy but there is no elevator for those who need one to get to their room.

This inn is clearly in need of some updgrades, but it was better than the last place we stayed when we were in town. Be aware that it's noisy - our room overlooked the street and as luck would have it we were adjacent to the only two bars in town. Anyone who went out for a smoke break was yelling and talking directly below our window. You could also hear the music from the bar at night and it started up again at 10:30 the next morning. Some other guests were also quite roudy and were talking at full volume in the hallway at 3:30 am. We arrived on the coldest weekend of the month and the window-mounted air conditioner was still installed, leaking cold air into the room. It was only 14 degrees in there when we arrived and there weren't many warm blankets on the beds. We plugged the gap with a facecloth to try and stop the draft, but since there was no front desk, we didn't know how to call. (Check in was done in the bar downstairs, which was a bit odd ). The floor of our room had a distince uphill sloap towards the bathroom and the bed was not at all supportive, but the water pressure was good. There are clearly some issues, but the location is great so we would likely stay here again. We'll be sure to bring ear plugs though!

I had the unfortunate experience of booking a room at this establishment months in advance, only to receive an email on the morning of our scheduled arrival, informing us that our reservation had been canceled. It was baffling to learn that the room we had reserved had ‘sprung a leak’ and had been supposedly "closed" for a month, and yet they waited until the day of our arrival to notify us (as yet unseen email sent at 11:00 that morning)

The staff's behavior during this ordeal was unhelpful to say the least. They displayed a complete lack of professionalism and were shockingly dismissive when we inquired about the cancellation. Instead of taking responsibility for their own negligence, they attempted to shift the blame onto the booking agent, which was far from the truth. It was clear that they were simply too lazy to inform guests with existing bookings of the situation. Moreover the check in is actually in the bar and the staff were rather more focused on serving drinks than helping people supposedly try to check in.

This entire experience left me utterly disgusted with this hotel. I strongly advise against staying with them. The staff's complete lack of interest and their utter unreliability left us in a precarious situation with a family of 4 after traveling over from England. It's a shame that such a lacklustre, unprofessional, establishment is allowed to operate in the hospitality industry. Avoid at all costs!

We stayed in the two bedroom on Main Street and not in one of the rooms above the restaurant. The photos and location on trip advisor are deceiving as the place we booked did not have a water view and the rooms looked nothing like the photos. It has not been updated in many years. The carpet should have been replaced years ago. It was so dirty we wore our shoes all the time. We opened one of the cupboards and the door almost fell off. See photo. The paint was chipped and cracked. There are no locks on the bedroom doors. The rooms are located upstairs and have a joint entry with an office on the main floor so minimal security. Luckily we had only booked one night but we were still charged $400 for the place. It might have been tolerable if the cost had been $100 but really not acceptable.

This stay didn't start well, parking is difficult and there seemed to be noone at check in. We had to register with restaurant staff who proceeded to ask for a tip as we paid. Room access is poor, you have to carry luggage up narrow stairs. The rooms are good sized but desperately in need of a good clean and refurbish. The one good thing is location, right in the centre of town.
We won't stay here again.

I stayed in the annex, an old house on the main street. Opening the door you are hit with a musty old smell. The floor is covered in carpet from the 80's and covered in stains. The curtain rod in the bathroom fell off.
Everything is dingy, dirty and depressing.

A warm smile and laughter are not normally mentioned in reviews but the staff at The Brigantine Inn have an abundance of both. The staff makes you feel at home and the pub and dining room below the rooms are simply wonderful.

Try the Lunenburg burger. Who knew that topping an already great burger with Lobster is so good?

I would recommend the Inn heartily.... Kevin M, Ontario

My husband and I recently stayed at the Brigantine Inn in Lunenburg. They have a few buildings one can select from with lots of pictures on their website. We wanted a 2 bedroom with extra room and a water view. We stayed in the annex which is an old house that received the Heritage Award which has been renovated. Our apartment was upstairs and we were pleasantly surprised. My husband is very fussy about his accommodations and thought this was a home run. We had 2 bedrooms each with a window air conditioner, modern bathroom and living room and pullman type kitchen which looked to the Bay between 2 buildings. We could sit in the living room or at the table and watch the comings and going of the bay as well as see the Blue Nose. The pictures of this unit don't do it justice and it is quite new and modern. You have the place to yourself and Lunenburg is such a great place. You could rent this for a few days and explore around Mahone Bay and Chester from here. The value of this for the money was tops.

An ordinary hotel with thoroughly unprofessional staff. My husband and I were on what was supposed to be a relaxing long weekend when we stayed here last weekend. We had one day to sleep in. How could we possibly have known that on Saturday the housekeeping staff congregates in the hallway to chat? Loudly? Starting at about 8 a.m.? And then they start vacuuming around 9 a.m.? And then do the laundry for the hotel just down the hall in a machine that squeaks? Needless to say, we did not sleep, nor was the hotel relaxing. Somehow when we made our reservations it didn't occur to us to ask if this was their practice, or if their doors fit well (they don't, but if they did and weren't hollow, it would have cut down on the sound transmission into our room considerably).

I guess if you're an out and about kind of person, this place would be OK for you, but I just found it amazing that it wouldn't occur to a hotel that some of their guests might want to sleep beyond 8 a.m. (and this in a time zone that is 1 hour earlier than most of the US east coast).

There were other small troubling things, but all were eclipsed by this one item. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for any thing. There are so many others in Lunenburg to choose from and this one offered nothing unique.

I agree with the other post. I am not aware of a Theme Park nearby. And yes, it it cold and wet in Nova Scotia in February. Is there an inn with the same name in Florida, perhaps?

Is there a hair dryer in the room or do I need to bring one? Only asking due to weight restrictions on luggage.
