We stayed two nights. The motel is an older establishment with the rooms in parallel blocks up the hill behind the house/reception, and well away from the road.
Comfortable, very clean, room with good beds, small bathroom, alcove for tea/coffee making and including a microwave. Opening windows, parking at the door. Being so far from the road it was very quiet, and windows could be opened for nice fresh air.
The motel is about 1.5km from the old town, a very pleasant walk. There is a supermarket next to the motel, and a Tim Hortons across the road from that.
At the time we stayed the biggest bonus was that you were removed from the dreadful smell in the old town (caused by ongoing drainage problems) though hopefully that is all fixed by now.
Lunenburg, apart from being an interesting historic town (and in that vein, don't miss nearby Mahone Bay which is very beautiful), is a good place from which to explore Western Nova Scotia, and is far cheaper and easier paced than Halifax.

We go to Lunenburg to spend Christmas with family who have no room to put us up, so we count on the Homeport Motel for reasonably priced and comfortable accommodations. Advantages include very comfortable beds, easy parking right in front of the room, easy check-in, good bathroom with walk-in shower, cleanliness, and well-equipped microwave etc. in case we want to eat there. Disadvantages include poor TV selection (nothing live available, this year we used our Netflix account for entertainment), cold floor (not a problem in summer, I guess), and location difficult to find in the dark. (The location is convenient to a supermarket and Tim Horton's.) We can't testify as to the quality of air conditioning, but the heat is good in winter.

Due to the many positive reviews we booked one night here and had an excellent stay here with our granchildren . Beautifully renovated room and s-o-o close to Lunenburg. Very comfortable bed as well. A very unique and easy way of accessing your room made things very easy.

As of last year, this motel has a new owner according to the site manager. Our room was really clean (think grout and caulking) and quite spacious. It's an older type of motel with older fixtures etc but who cares about that if it's clean?
About a 10-15 minute walk to historic Lunenburg so convenient location. Spent a very nice couple of nights.
Also dog friendly so a bonus for us. Huge property so easy to walk dog around.

We were touring Nova Scotia and had planned on staying here. Due to Hurricane Lee approaching the province and we are traveling in an RV, we decided to get off the province and head to a safer area, not knowing if there would be flooding or damage from the storm. The hotel refused to return our payment due to we weren’t in the time frame of their cancellation policy. I would think due to circumstances beyond our control, they could have waived their policy. If it wasnt for bad weather and our concern for our safety driving an RV, we would have loved to stay and finish our vacation of NS. Very disappointed. We will return next year, but wont stay here.

We stayed in this property few years ago. It was clean but dated. It has been renovated recently and now the rooms look much better. We loved the tile walk-in shower. Short walk to Lunenburg, next door to grocery store. Will stay again.

Stayed at this lovely spot Sept.20,21 & 22 as a group of 4 ladies travelling around New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI from Manitoba. It was exactly what we were looking for!! We had a family suite that was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We were able to have a break from restaurant meals and bar-b-que and cook for ourselves. Everything we needed was right there. A grocery store a 2 minute walk away as well as an LC and Timmies made this very easy. The beds were very comfortable and it was so nice to find "homelike" towels in browns and beiges in the bathroom instead of the usual hotel white. The bathroom was huge. An on site laundry was very convenient. The grounds were lovely and well kept and the area generally very quiet. We found many interesting tourist activities close by. We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to enjoy this gem which we understand is for sale. The sisters who run this motel are very hard working and accommodating.

This is a clean and nicely painted establishment. Good size room, w/ nearly full kitchenette (microwave, quite fridge, toaster, & toaster oven). Big bathroom and soft towels. Fast internet.
They have coin laundry available, and even had courtesy detergent, softener, etc. Reasonably priced.
This would have been a 5, except ...
there was a bright light illuminating the doorway that we couldn't turn off. The door has a window, w/ a blind for shade. Unfortunately, the blind was missing a slat, which would have let anyone look in our room, and the blind was 'stripped' so we couldn't adjust the slat angle to keep more light out. A significant darn on otherwise great spot. It is in a quite location, so at least there wasn't any foot traffic outside our door.

Independent family owned traditional motel that has been completely updated. This property has been maintained very well, extremely clean and very comfortable. Not far at all from the water front of Lunnenberg, easy drive and also walkable. The owners have a lot of pride in their property as they should. Would definitely stay here again!

We recently stayed here and would recommend this Motel to everyone. Unfortunately, the owners are looking to sell so you better hurry! We only stayed 3 nights but wished we had stayed longer.

Our room was upgraded to a two bedroom with kitchen/dining area unit. It was spotless and well stocked with dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, etc. There was a refrigerator, microwave, full-size stove and a dishwasher. They had a guest washer/dryer with detergent and dryer sheets provided.

We were travelling with our dog and the owners said that we could leave the dog in the room so that we could go out to eat as long as we left a cell phone number that they could contact us in case the dog started barking or whining.

The Motel is just a short drive away from the waterfront restaurants and shops. It is beside a grocery store and liquor store as well as across the street from a gas station and Tim Hortons.
