Detailed Reviews
We stayed with Joe and Christopher on a combined work/pleasure extended weekend and were so happy we landed on the Alicion for our accommodations. The house is just a beautiful home, built in the early 1900’s and lovingly maintained. It sits on a huge corner lot complete with carriage house and has a wonderful verandah overlooking a manicured, landscaped lawn.
Joe was fantastic to deal with right from the first phone call and although he couldn’t accommodate us our first night made several suggestions for possible alternatives.
We stayed in the Tamarack room which had twin beds our first night as they were full and they graciously moved us to a room with a king bed our second night. Both rooms were well decorated with lovely furnishings and beds were super comfortable with luxurious bed linens. Each room had huge attached bathroom complete with bathrobes and bath salts which I put to good use both nights! Rooms were immaculately clean and a delight to return to after walking back from downtown where we had a wonderful dinner both nights we were in town.
Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room and fulfilled the expectations set by this beautiful home. We started with delicious parfait followed by a large bowl of fresh fruit. Hot muffins or blueberry cake were followed by a hot main One day it was an interesting twist on a frittata with potato crust, egg filling and a hot bubbly cherry tomato topping. Delicious! Second day we had French toast with fresh strawberries and the best bacon we have had! The beautiful place setting, quality silverware and hot plentiful coffee completed the experience!
Joe is a great host, there when you need him, great conversation in the breakfast room but allows you the freedom to enjoy his house without hovering. We did not meet Christopher as he presides over the back of the house including whipping up your scrumptious breakfast.
We look forward to staying again and experiencing the stay in another season.
Winter well and keep safe, Joe and Christopher!

Thank you both so much for your wonderful review! Now we feel bad that you didn't meet Christopher who does venture out of the 'back' from time to time, but certainly when you get back he will make a point of saying hello. We have just finished up on our last weekend of the 2020 season, made successful by you and others who ventured out in our bubble to explore the province and support local businesses. We do hope to see you again in the future as we hope for a slow but steady return to normalcy in our world. Have a safe winter! Joe & Christopher

We stayed at Alicion on our first day of a seven day trip.
I had planned to propose that day, and owners Joe and Chris could not have been more accomodative! They allowed me to prepare early, the room was immaculately clean and well appointed thanks to their speedy cleaning staff, and they also provided me with some champagne glasses for after the proposal.
We stayed in the Periwinkle room, and when we arrived to the hotel that evening, we had an extremely comfortable stay in the cozy bed, and a lovely bath in a large tub. The room also had a wonderful beachy theme that was very down-home feeling, very welcome to people starting a local trip!
In the morning, we were welcomed to a huge breakfast of parfaits, fresh fruit, fresh bread and home made jams, as well as avocado toast which happened to be on the menu that morning. Everything was delicious, Joe and Chris made sure we were very comfortable, and all in all, I could not recommend this B+B any more!
Thanks to the crew at Alicion for making my fiancee and I feel truly special. They are great people running a fabulous B+B, and 10/10 would recommend!

We spent two nights in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in this charming, lovely home. It was by far the most well maintained and decorated bed and breakfast that we have stayed in over many years of travel. It is clear that great care and thought were given to the furnishings and comfort of the guests. The breakfasts were varied and plentiful and the hosts, Joe & Christopher, welcoming and helpful. We highly recommend and suggest booking early as the inn was full even in the early part of the season.

This B&B has thought of every need, these gentlemen have done this! We booked this home for a quick stay, only one night.
We received our confirmation and a few days prior to our stay actually received an email from the hosts, advising us of restaurants in the area they recommended.
From the moment we walked in the door and were greeted by Joe, one of your hosts, we knew we would enjoy our stay. Joe explained all of the intricacies of the home. It is a beautiful home, with a lovely lawn and gardens.
The bed was very comfortable, with great pillows and the towels were divine, even a black facecloth to remove makeup. A coffee machine in the room was prefilled with water, a filtered water jug in the bedroom waiting for us!
Breakfast was a great mixture that allowed guests to choose options, coffee, tea, juice, cereal, a yogurt parfait, danish, and a croissant with scrambled egg and ham!
These owners have thought of every possible need for a traveller, welcomed us with open arms and we felt very much at home while visiting their lovely home. I highly recommend staying here!

We both very much enjoy what we do, and it is a great reward to know that we are on target. Hope to see you again, Joe & Christopher

This must be the best place to stay in Lunenburg; the house is full of character, spotless and relaxing. The rooms are spacious, with A/C and screens on windows that can be opened, beds are big and comfortable, large well equipped bathroom with copious water. Breakfasts are tasty and substantial, freshly cooked and cannot be faulted. The owners are charming, engaging and willing to advise on nearby attractions, restaurants etc. If you want to stay somewhere authentic in a quiet area, near to the town centre then this accommodation is ideal.

+1
It all began with a trip to the Escape room in Bridgewater, where we chose a spooky Escape room start to our over night adventure and learn a little history about Lunenburg.
We then arrived at the breath taking Alicion Bed & Breakfast. A beautifully built home with stunning architecture steeped in history. When walking up to the font door, you are greeted by a lion door knocker and then step into see a home filled with glorious stained glass. There is a large sitting room to enjoy local books and thoughtful conversations.
Joe was so kind and helpful. We were shown to our room, the Periwinkle Suite, a lovely beach themed room, to perfectly suite this town by the sea.
We then went out and enjoyed the local cuisine, the go to place, the Dockside. We were able to gather more stories from the local waitress.
We then took part in the walking ghost tour, a favourite part of the trip for myself. With the rain and the fog setting the scene for some truly haunting local tales of terror.
Once back at the B&B the whirlpool tub was put to good use. After a long night out in the rain, a warm soak was needed.
The king size bed was sleeping beauty's dream bed. When laying down on the bed looking to the ceiling was a little beach, to help set the mood of the room even higher.
Waking to a spectacular sunrise, after the long rainy day yesterday was refreshing. We then went down for breakfast. We had 3 delicious courses, a yogurt parfait with croissant with jam, fruit salad and the main course of pouched eggs, a savoury bacon potato hash and some toast. With drink options of tea or coffee and orange or grapefruit juice. All cooked by the lovely Christopher.
A wonderful couple perfectly suited to run this enchanting B&B. A local Nova Scotia escape in our own backyard. The perfect place for a weekend escape and a step back in local history.

Few take the time to write a comprehensive review of Alicion, and I thank you for being honest and doing the work. It makes us both so happy when guests enjoy their stay and appreciate the efforts we put in to making our home a wonderful and restful oasis for others. We will also go and try the Bridgewater escape room now, after talking about it -and look forward to hearing about a new ghost tour doc of 'The Woman at the Window'. Look forward to a return visit.

Very relaxing comfortable experience, patrons were very friendly and attentive. We stayed two nights, The room was clean and spacious with a lovely soaker tub that I took advantage of on both nights, before walking into town for a celebratory drink and meal. My husband who is a foodie having worked in the military and travelled all over Europe and Canada agreed that it was the best breakfast he has had at any establishment he has been to. The amount of food offered was more than enough to set us up for walking into town. The crisp clean linen made for a very comfortable nights sleep in the large King bed. The beauty of this old home with its stain glass and carved wood made the stay even more special. Joe and Chris are very knowledgable about the local amenities and can make great suggestions for your specific needs. I would highly recommend this B&B and will definitely make a return journey.

Thank you so much for this Sandra. We enjoyed hosting you here and chatting with you over the two days you spent in Lunenburg. As I may have said, as a bed and breakfast you have to do two things well (at least) and that's have a nice, comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. Glad we ticked those boxes for you! Look forward to hosting you on another 'staycation' down here on the South Shore.

I often judge things based on, 'Was it worth what we paid for it?' Our experience at Alicion B&B was absolutely worth every penny. And that was BEFORE breakfast!
My husband and I recently spent a night in the Dragonfly room. It was lovely, spacious, exceptionally clean and comfortable.
Two days later and I am still thinking about breakfast at Alicion. I wouldn't have ordered anything that was served if we had been in a restaurant (I have the palate of a 5 year old) but I tried something new and was not disappointed. Breakfast tipped a great experience into a perfect one. I will be remembering that granola and the burst of warm blueberry goo in the blueberry banana muffins for a long time!
Kudos to Christopher, Joe and Valerie, you all made our little anniversary getaway amazing!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Alicion July,2022. It was perfect! The house is large and beautifully decorated with antique furniture and gorgeous paintings. Our room, dragonfly, was airy and spacious with a king sized bed and lovely soft pillows. The tub was large enough for us both to share and there were soft towels to use afterward.
Breakfast was spectacular! Christopher is an expert chef and the homemade granola is delightful. It was followed by a hot breakfast and delicious coffee, served by our host Joe who was able to recommend restaurants and things to see in Lunenburg. We had a wonderful time and the Alicion was perfect!

Alicion is a beautiful property close to Lunenburg’s historic downtown. The location is perfect for walking into the city or visiting the nearby trail. The house itself is grand and beautiful just as the spacious and tasteful rooms are. Amenities like the jacuzzi tub made the stay even more lavish. We stayed 4 nights, felt very welcome, and enjoyed a delicious and generous different breakfast each morning. Bring a friend, a partner, or a family member—perfect for any getaway short or long.
