I knew we weren't getting a Delta, and by comparison, perhaps Rock Island is pretty good - compared to the roadside motels in this part of the country, but is was not at all what we had in mind. Its like a camp - the food, the rooms and the common area. The first and "best" room has its own...

I've spent several nights at Rock Island and will spend many more. The setting is superb, the lodge is cozy and welcoming. Rooms are clean and spacious, most with wonderful views out their windows. In the evening you can relax down at the beach in front of a fire or inside the main room of the lodge beside the fire...

3 nights 4 days of pleasure. The staff is great the views are better. Overall this is a great place to stay and recover from the world! We hiked, rock hunted, rested, paddle boarded, kayak, read, and had some great times talking with staff and fellow lodge guests. The views are to die for. The meals are first class. The...

Spent a wonderful spring weekend here with family. Weather cooperated, with sunshine and comfortable hiking temperatures on both Saturday and Sunday. Lodge was a great base, comfortable beds, filling meals, cheerful staff and a magnificent view of Lake Superior. This is not a luxury resort, but rather a comfortable base for outdoor activities. Upscale camping with very nice rooms, homey...

We had one room in the lodge and the teepee as well in August and we would have stayed a second night but there was no vacancy. It was only because of a cancellation that we could get the room on short notice. We never book our trips to Wawa with much notice and have wanted to try Rock Island...

Sadly, I didn't get a chance to stay here. It was our first choice when searching the internet on our way up to Superior. We were just passing through and it caught my attention right away. I called and left a message and David called me back within 30 minutes. Sadly at the time I was out of cell range...

If you love Lake Superior, good conversation, healthy food, wood stoves, eco-conscious tourism, and bald eagles....it doesn't get any better than this! I haven't been lucky enough to stay in warm or sunny weather to try out the kayaks, but there is always next time!

We broke a road trip across Canada by staying here for three days. Had no idea what to expect, but were blown away by the beautiful location, right on the shore of Lake Superior. It's quite a basic, dormitory style set-up, with only 4 rooms, and primarily aimed at outdoor lake activities. It was early in the season when we...

In July 2013, the Mac ( McMaster University) girls from Brandon Hall got together for our annual good time at Rock Island Lodge. It was raining when we arrived from London, Hamilton, Mississauga and the Soo but that did not deter us from hiking from Silver Falls through a lovely peaceful forest. Our accommodation was shared with two gals in...
