Absolute sh--hole. Run down, extremely noisy and dated. Unless you are a raging alcoholic who doesn't go to bed before 5am, don't bother wasting your money on trying to get a decent night's sleep in this place. The absolute worst place I have ever stayed.
The desk clerk was extremely friendly and upgraded us because our room hadn’t been cleaned. But he never gave us a wifi password which wasn’t a big deal because we were only there to sleep. It went downhill from there. Crumbs in our bed!?! Pillow cases were crisp, clean and smelled of bleach. Bedspread was filled with cigarette holes, mattress was very soft and rolled toward the middle. Yes, the building is old and has a unique ambiance. We felt like we were entering a western movie set or a Hitchcock movie but that doesn’t mean it has to be dirty. We were on the front of the building and had street lights shining in our room. Window was wide open without screens. There was a fan in the room but the centre of the cover was missing. We had driven 14 hours that day and just needed a place to crash which we did. Left at 6 am the next morning only to find empty beer cans on the steps leaving the hotel. I think I’ll stick to the big chains from now on…
Apparently we got the last room available. It is an old hotel with a restaurant and a bar that is on the main floor. We got in late (8:30pm) but were able to get some food at the bar (kitchen open until 9). The bartenders were friendly and the food was just ok. We stayed in room 202 which is an ok room and it was clean, but…. the new tub shower was not plumbed correctly because the sewer smells were directly venting into the room. To make things worse than toxic fumes coming into the room is that there was no fan in the bathroom and no electrical outlets. Not sure if this remodeled room was ever inspected, but I would assume not. So not sure about the other rooms but I would if you are staying here please avoid room 202 if you don’t want to breath toxic air.
Bed was comfy beyond that the shower was gross no a/c, when we called to book the lady made it seem like we were right on the lake, we are currently debating if it’s safer to sleep in our car. Very dated which I can get past but all we wanted was to shower after driving 15 hrs and the bathtub is disgusting, I basically washed at the sink
Straight statement of observations. Eight mattresses/box springs on the ground behind the hotel at the parking lot. Speaker blown in tv. Five wifi routers to choose from in case the wifi doesn’t work. No air conditioning as in advertisement, but a fan in the window without a screen and a wobbly ceiling fan. Someone stomping across the floor above my head on and off for the past couple Of hours. Bathroom door doesn’t close. The one extra pillow in the dresser smells like old cheese. The room itself smells like carpet sprinkles. A cigarette burn on end table. Outdated 1980’s decor. Friendly girl at the front desk.
After a long ride I checked every single motels but they are all full and they recommended me to check out Lakeview motel. At first the lady owner said it was all booked but 2 of her customers haven’t confirmed yet so she asked me to check back in 2 hours. I went back out and was dead tired and was looking for a place to sit down. The lady owner ran after me and told me one of her customer cancelled so she booked me in for 2 nights. The room is an average motel room. The bed was comfortable. There is a restaurant and a bar inside the motel. Staff are super helpful and friendly. The motel is walking distance to stores and a laundromat. And it’s right opposite the lake.
I arrived at Wawa and was looking for a room for one night. The price (around CAD$85) was good for me, the owner was helpful. But wat I didn’t know was that the bed was terrible. I didn’t sleep well. The bed was hard, very hard. No suspension. It was a bit dust with a lot of iron. No way that this could be a ‘normal’ bed. For this rate there should be a better bed and not this very old thing of crap.
Arrived in the allotted time slot. Weird, but did so anyways. No one at check in until someone in the pub noticed and heard me. The bartender tried checking us in but couldn't access reservation and any record of it on Booking.com Room wasn't ready. Owner was sleeping. Had to be woken up. Came down from room and said they couldn't accommodate our request. So we left. Can't say much more than that. You be the judge!
Room was decent enough.... amenities were dated but it appeared there was an effort underway to make improvements.... food was good in the restaurant and if you like to hear conversations and jokes that were allowable 20 years ago this is your place to be!
I am sure this once was a grand hotel. And the new owner looks like he is trying to get it back to that status. But the currently the hotel is in need of a lot of upgrades and it is caught in the 80’s decor. Room was clean, bed was old but clean, bathroom was recently redone with newer windows. The outside looks worst than the inside and the staff was very nice.
