Travelled to Thunder Bay and broke up our trip coming and going by staying at this motel. It was our first experience with the Beaver Motel and we chose it based on previous reviews. We had 2 different rooms and we were 2 adults with a baby. First room had more room with 2 beds and considered a suite-room enough for the playpen. Second time was a smaller room with a king size bed-room enough for a crib. Both rooms exceptionally clean!!!! Staff were so welcoming. The best part was the gathering of local community workers, return customers, and motel staff in the lobby having coffee- so homey and felt so welcomed Can not praise it enough
Every once in a while you stumble across a hidden gem. Beaver Motel is just that. I was traveling around Lake Superior on my motorcycle and had booked a room at the Beaver Motel. What a wonderful experience. I was met with a delightful receptionist, very helpful in many ways. The room was updated and comfortable. The picots do not do it justice. Linens, bedding, and all the rest where excellent. Upon leaving the daytime team was just has helpful. They supplied towels to wipe off my motorcycle, it had rained. Ensured I had directions to breakfast and wished me well. This is a hidden gem. I will return.
This was a very clean and comfortable room close to the highway but not directly off of it. while the bathroom was small the room was adequate and the king bed very comfortable. They are no grab bars in the bathroom and while hot water was plentiful they need a few more nonslip stops in the tub. It is a lower priced hotel so do not expect luxury but you get what you pay for and I have paid a lot more at chain hotels that were not as clean and comfortable as this place.
We've previously stayed in other hotels / motels along the north shore of Lake Superior and did not have high expectations. When we pulled up to the motel, the outward appearance was unassuming but much to our delight, we found the room to be just a great surprise. Absolutely no musty smells and extremely clean, décor was updated, bright and fresh, the bed was very comfortable and the sheets and pillows were fresh. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was great. Fresh coffee was available in the morning along with a scrumptious butter tart. The owners, Theresa and Monty are really friendly, helpful people and just the kind of great entrepreneurs who take care of customer relationships as well as their property.
I was part of 4 guys doing a Northern Ontario motorcycle trip, and we booked two rooms at this motel. The owners were very friendly people, and during booking gave great information on restaurants in walking distance, beer store etc. When we arrived the Beaver looks dated from the outside…but do not judge the book by its cover. The rooms were spotless, the beds were comfortable, showers and water presser were great…everything we needed. In the morning there was coffee and tea in the lobby. We would stay at the Beaver again on our next trip through Wawa.
I liked the location and family closeness of the motel. Coffee machine in the lobby was good because room had none. No bf in the price, we were two people but was given one bed of double size😏. Queen could have worked atleast. Anyway I guess that was the only room left for that day. My side room had girls chatting laughing whole night. I travelled very long distance but could not sleep because of noise.
My usual place was full. So I booked here. From the outside the place looks dated and old. The front sign is well aged. When I checked in, I had to call from a phone at the desk to get the attention of the front desk. The lobby is ok.... Check in was easy. There wasn't anymore information given to me. Room 103, right next to the main entrance, was fairly nice. It has been remodeled. There was a double and a single bed in my room. The headboards didn't match the beds. You can tell they were made for 2 queen beds. The heater/AC worked fine and was quiet. The small desk under the TV was very little use. The TV 32"-40" was ok. An RCA TV. It had lots of channels to choose from. The bathroom was fine. Toilet, sink and tub with shower. There is a microwave and fridge a + here. Over all, the room is small. Fine for 1 person. 2 or more would be a squeeze. There isn't any pool or restaurant attached to the motel. There are lots of places close by . when they're open... The price expensive for what you get.…
Had to stay here because our car broke down and we were towed to wawa so we picked this motel.. It was so clean and had a fridge and microwave and tiny coffee maker.. BUT they charge way too much for a nights stay and ridiculous rates for pets $25 each.. If u just want a clean room with a comfy bed stay here, but pay a lot for a budget motel!
Stopped in this lovely town on a fall colour tour. The precautions were good. The room was comfortable and clean. As non-smokers, we didn't appreciate a full ashtray on our deck, and the wifi was spotty at best. We read books instead.
When travelling from Southern Ontario to Manitoba we usually stop in Wawa. We have stayed in this particular motel twice before, its our go to safe feeling motel in Northern Ontario. We have always stayed on the ground floor but this time we had a room upstairs, no elevators. The room we had looked very old and dated, not all that appealing. It was however clean and comfortable, no odours and no noise. Prices have gone up and we paid the same mount to stay there as we did to stay in a very nice new comfort in but you are in Northern ontario and choices are very limited. Easy access from the highway, gas station across the road and tim's just as you are leaving Wawa. We always check in and get chinese food that we bring back to our room and hopefully watch the hockey game before retiring for another 12 hours drive the next morning.…
