I stayed here with my Dad in June, on our way in and out of another town in Newfoundland. Westjet flights from Toronto get in very late (1am) and depart very early (6am). On our first night we had a room on the 2nd floor -- I may have been tired, but it seems our second time back on the...

I stayed at the Albatross Motel on the TCH for business. The service was very friendly and the rooms were pretty standard. The bathroom could need updating but the beds were really comfortable. I asked for a DVD player but they did not have one.

The hotel is in a convenient location. I had a room with one queen bed, and would recommend that for the same price get a room with two beds as the room was really small and uncomfortable. The photos on TripAdvisor of this hotel are misleading, IMO. The heater/AC unit at the window was dated and difficult to adjust. The...

Food in their restaurant is great. Good portions, good prices. Great place for a convenient stop over. Was there on business. The meeting rooms were adequate. The service was great. It's an older hotel, and can be a bit of a maze. Once you figure it out, your're fine. Great breakfast deals

I've tried out most of the hotels in Gander trying to find which one is the best, understanding there are no 4 or 5 star hotels in the town. Most of the hotels are pretty equal, where one might be a little stronger, another one has a different strength. I've come to the conclusion that the Albatross is my favorite...

I go to many places for breakfast/brunch - the albatross almost got it bang on. The fact that you can get a touton is a bonus; the potatoes are great - real potato for a hashbrown is a must. The only thing that could be brought up to speed - homemade bread (even breadbox/Rosies bread will work) - the goose...

Thank-you for your restaurant review, and we are glad that you enjoyed your breakfast with us. We are currently looking in to the possibility of using home made bread for our breakfasts too. Hope to have you back again soon. -Ruby

Reasonable property with some recent renovations, but not in the room I had. Very quiet. I did not hear another soul the three nights I was there. Good bed. Clean bathroom. I found a blanket in the closet which I used instead of the duvet (which I find too hot). Every time I came back the maid had re-made the...

Very old hotel, old carpet, old building that has no character. I wouldn't waste my time staying here if you have alternatives. Clock was impossible to set! Bed was clean and comfortable enough but small! Heat wasn't on in the room upon entry and the room was cold. There is a bar and a resturant on location. Free wifi and...

The staff on the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is pretty outdated but I've definitely been in worse. The location is very convenient as it's right off of the highway. The room was pretty cozy, although needs updating. The heat was hard to control, either too hot or too cold - I couldn't get a nice...

I would call this place a dump, but I happen to enjoy a good dump from time to time. I don't even think a facelift would help this baby. It's time to put the poor Albatross out of its misery. It's suffered long enough. Call in the wrecking ball. Not one thing in the room was worth salvaging. I have...

It's Unfortunate that you did not enjoy your accommodations here at the Albatross. Some of the renovations that we have had just this year are new televisions, mattresses, and new linen and drapery. The majority of our carpeting is also less than 5 years old. I do understand that our furniture, although in good condition, is old and lacks the...
