A beach stay that's located at a perfect location - between lush green and rocky hills and sea. The beach ahead of it is almost like a private beach as it has limited visitors even during peak season (1st Jan). A perfect spot to watch sun setting in the sea and stargazing at night. We as a family stayed in the seashore till 10.30Pm with no lights or people around and witnessed the beautiful bio luminous effect that happens only in this sea ( the Nirvana beach) in South India on a New moon day.

Rooms are authentic with Manglore tiled roof that's perfect for both hot and cold climate. There is clean white sand all around for kids to play and nice to walk around bare footed. The mangrove plants and trees around the rooms and Cafe gives enough shade and looks beautiful. There are many hammocks (sleeping swing) tied between trees near almost every rooms enabling us to lay down outside for a nap or a read in the cool breeze. The stay is suitable for both couples and solo or group travelers.

Tent stay is provided aswell (not included in room charge) and there are  a good number of well maintain common bathrooms and toilet for people staying in tent and others as well to use after batting in the sea.

Raghu the manager at the beach stay was very hospitile and professional, and so was his assistant Sandesh. Raghu is always willing to help you with a smiling face. They help us by arranging for beach rides and car hires for travel around the town (Yana caves, Gokarna and several trekking spots are located around). Food provided at the Cafe is very delicious cooked by Bali who is 15years experienced along with his wife. Rooms are decently charged considering  what the beach stay has in store for us in and around.

On the downside food is moderately expensive at the Cafe though the quantity and taste is very good.

Keep your expectations realistic (this is not a resort or a hotel), you'll find great value with quality me/ family time.

We (Spouse, son, I) were here for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. Clean and calm beach, nice 1.5-2 hours trek up and down the adjacent hill (remember to take a guide suggested by host), beautiful sunset, excellent food. Recommend that you take the boat ride with North Coast adventure with Rajesh and his team taking excellent care of you - 3 hours of pure joy.

Few points to fellow travelers: (1) Carry your own toiletries, (2) BYOB - beer & breezers are available, (3) Pets are welcome.

Location – 5/5
Staff – 4/5
Food – 4/5

The property location is amazing with easy access to Nirvana beach. The food option, though limited in veg section, the taste is great. The staff is courteous. Few points to note:
(1) The approach road to the property is in bad shape for last 600meters. You need to be an experienced 2 or 4-wheeler driver to navigate it.
(2) Ask Mr. Kaviraj (staff) for the nearby places you can visit. He will tell you about some hidden gems.
(3) The property is 50kms from Gokarna if you travel by 4-wheeler. The route that shows on Google Maps is for a ferry which only takes 2-wheelers. We learned this the hard way.
(4) The food options in veg sections are very limited.
(5) Drinking water has to be bought and there is no provision of free drinking water.
(6) The tour (island hoping, dolphin sightseeing etc.) provided/ arranged by owner, Mr. Rajesh is a must do. Though it might sound expensive compared to the one provided by local operators in Kumta and Gokarna, it’s value for money and worth every penny.

We are family of 4 with two small kids stayed in the Sandy shore beachstay for 2 nights....few good points about the stay are -
1. Near to beach
2. Have Hammocks to relax
3. Open sand area for kids to play
4. If requested, will make customised food for kids ( like no chillies, etc.)
Areas which needs definite improvement are -
1. Access to beach is not convenient.Their is a water logging and one has to go to the beach first need to cross that water clog
2. The food and beverage ( including water) is exorbitantly costly and with average taste .....just few meters away there are other good resorts which are giving great food with very reasonable rates
3. Mosquitos are problem in the evening outside as well as inside the room..the mosquito repellent they provided was broken and had no backup
4. In the name of toiletries there is one soap which was given and towels are only available on request
5. Be ready to see lizard poops and some centepeeds falling on the bed from ceiling.
6. Not a major concern, but the lime juice is served in the same beer glasses which are otherwise used for serving beer.

The property has tents and rooms, though for the experience, you should stay in the tents when the weather is pleasant which was the case in December 2019 when we stayed there.

Different sizes of tents are available with a common toilet and bath facility.

Food and drinks are decent. If you are in a group, they will also organize for a bonfire on the beach a little off the main resort, which is good for 30 odd minutes.

The guides for the beach trek are friendly and helpful. The trek itself requires some fitness level, recommended but take a lot of water with you as you will sweat a lot.

Overall a good stay !

We didn’t stay but spent a whole day there at their restaurant. It seems it was the beginning of the off season. All guests had left and staff was also minimal. However the location of Sandy Shores on the pristine Nirvana beach is excellent. My partner, son and I spent the entire day there and were well looked after by the restaurant staff. The food was also fresh and well cooked. All in all a memorable experience and definitely worth a visit!Would have loved to interact with the management were they there.

We stayed at Sandy Shores for the new year. The place is right on the beach. The beach is very clean with blue waters. The rooms are spacious and clean. The place itself is quite good. The price is reasonable and the staff is quite helpful. One thing, that stands out is the integrity of the owner Mr. Pradeep. I had actually booked a room for October, but due to some reason I could not go. The amount I had paid was non-refundable, hence I considered it gone. However, Pradeep graciously adjusted it as a booking amount for our new booking in Jan. Not only that, he personally got our laundry done. The food is ok. Rest of the experience was just wonderful. Would love to stay at this place again.

Very good location, away from crowd, noise. We took a trip by boat to Gokharna and nearby beaches. Safety was well taken care of. Covered many places , swam in the sea. Specifically we thank Pradeep and Rajesh for their wonderful hospitality. Food was really very tasty like home made.

Sandy Shore was absolutely amazing place to stay and unwind. The room and bathroom were really clean and well ventilated. There's ample parking space, good rooms stone throw away from the beach, hammocks to chill about and wonderful host that caters to our requests and is knowledgeable for some local area tips. Internet coverage within the area is tip top! Food served also was great! This would be a great place for both families or group of friends that would just want to chill out!

We had the most wonderful stay at Sandy Shore. The staff specially Sachin are super helpful. Rajesh the owner went out of his way to show us the bioluminescence in the water. We also did a boat trip with him, absolutely must do... It was super fun
