This is a beautiful huge campsite beside a gorgeous beach. There is wood fired pizza on sale on site together with smoothies, coffee and healthy food. The Williams paddock has flush toilets. The place was clean. I would have preferred if the campsites were well marked and that we were allocated sites in the busy months like January rather than...

I've camped at Waikawau Bay every summer for about fifteen years and it's always the same basic facilities (mostly long-drop toilets and a few cold water outdoor showers). You have to bring your own drinking water, or boil theirs to be safe, but there is quite a good tuck-shop onsite selling ice creams, ice, snacks, etc. The shop and the...

Large campsite situated just back from beach behind sand dunes. Lots of camping sites, though it gets very busy January. Basic facilities with a mix of flush and long drops. Great beach for families with surfing, bodyboarding waves, bit of fishing off the rocks. Some awesome kiwi rope swings around the campsite which the kids love! Also good sand dunes...

Camped for a couple nights around New Year's at this stunning location. Amazing beach, great for long walks and swimming. The only complaint was that there was ALWAYS a long line at the toilet in the area we were camped in. Then again, the campsite was very busy because of the holiday. I believe they are planning another flush toilet...

Camped for two nights - was well worth the drive. Great price and excellent location - gorgeous beach just over the dunes. Very friendly staff and tidy clean amenities. Flushing toilets a nice surprise! Would definitely recommend this camp site to anyone. Best way to escape from the hustle for a while.

Great spot, 3km long beach, bush walks. Stayed up at the lodge, 3 bedroom house overlooking the bay. Fishing from the rocks or the beach. Nearby to the south is the beautiful Little Bay. The seas are warming by November and at there warmest about mid February.

“Look for sites in the shade with trees. fences at the back are great for hanging towels and gear. Paddock to the left as you drive in has great sites along the beach side fence.”
