The location of this motel is very convenient to shops and the ferry, but I was truly disgusted by the dirty room. The upper windows could not be opened due to the dirt encrusted hinges, the induction plate was broken (a hole in the plate) the kettle leaked water all over the countertop when boiling, the table, when I pulled it away from the wall, was stuck to the wall due to dirt, the fan in the bathroom was so covered in dirt that I didn't dare turn it on ---etc etc. I asked when the unit was to be serviced so that I could voice my concerns, it was though I had asked a trick question "you can get extra towels from the store room"!! The outdoor chairs had 50% paint peeling off them, the bbq was so dirty it was unusable. Parking was an issue as said by other reviewers. Certainly NOT a luxury motel as advertised. Only if the owners get their act together would I be able to recommend this motel.

There are two rooms in this motel. The location is great within walking distance of Devonport shops, cafes and the wharf. They advertise Free Parking but generally it is on the street if you are lucky. We were able to park in the driveway but had to move the car a couple of times to allow workers to bring their truck in which is the second annoying fact that there were workers working right outside our front door digging up the cement. This could or should have been done at a time when there were no guests. The room was adequate and it was very quiet at night. I had to ask if the room would be serviced as it was not explained whether or not the room would be serviced which it should being classified as a 'motel'. Long and short the location was great but there needs to be improvement.

Located in a house in Devonport Village, it's a cosy room with warm and friendly service from the owners. I chose this place as it was very close to the start line of the Auckland marathon (around 500m away) and it's walking distance to the coast, ferry terminal and shops. So glad I chose to stay here instead of downtown Auckland.

The motel was well located close to the village centre and the ferry to Auckland. The unit appeared old (particularly the bathroom) but was adequate in size. (TV was the smallest that we encountered on our trip). The unit was air conditioned. Our biggest issue was with the parking. The 2 units were located at the back of the house in the garden. There was one driveway down the side of the house and the vehicles had to remain in the driveway. This meant that one car was blocked in by the second arrival, plus the owner also parked there. There was virtually no on street parking as workers parked in the street. (and it was raining) Overall, the unit would suit arrivals without a vehicle who were able to take the ferry to Auckland or walk to the village. In our case, parking was an inconvenience. Otherwise, the unit was comfortable.

Good-sized room with lovely comfortable bed. Lots of hot water and good shower/bathroom. All very clean. Kitchenette had everything you need. Wifi worked really well. Owners were friendly and welcoming. Short walk into Devonport for bars, restaurants, shops, beaches and ferries. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Devonport Motel is a great little place tucked away behind the owners house. It is close to the small shopping precinct and just a short stroll to other tourist spots. Within walking distance to the ferry terminal. The unit was very clean and tidy and has the basic utensils to be self sufficient. The bed was comfortable and the garden outside was delightful to sit in and enjoy. The owners were lovely people to deal with. There was very little road noise as it is off the main road.

This is a small place with two units in the back garden. Immaculate throughout, with use of their back garden which was delightful. Close to the harbour, beach road and town centre. Totally peaceful and a lovely place to stop. I had tried booking into the main hotel on the promenade but they were full and the guy on their desk recommended this place. he actually called it a gem

Don't be fooled by the name; this isn't really a motel, more like an Air B&B. From what I saw, it just comprises two units in the backyard of a house in a residential road, just off the front at Devonport. Off road parking is just on the single driveway of the house and so your car can get blocked in. There is no reception. When we arrived, the owners were absent and had left us a note on the front door. They were also absent when we left next morning; so we never saw them. Therefore, make sure that you reserve a room here with the credit card that gives you the best exchange rate. We didn't but had no opportunity to pay with the pre-paid card that we brought with us for the purpose. Despite these negative points, our room was quiet, comfortable and well equipped with a great shower and full kitchenette. Soap and shampoo were present in dispenser bottles in the shower, but there was no hand soap on the basin, which was strange and a bit inconvenient. There was also no shelf in the shower for your own toiletries and the towels were pretty worn and a bit grey. These are pretty minor points, but could easily be rectified by the owners. The house is well located, being only a short walk from the harbour and all of the restaurants in Devonport and so this represents a very good base when staying in the area.

Walking distance from the Ferry, this mini motel complex (2 units) was quiet and the owners friendly. Nothing was a bother. Don't expect palatial, but the unit was clean. Heat pump was good, especially in the humid conditions of Auckland. Unit was small but with a big heart.

The location of this small motel, which only has two rooms and is in the back garden of a family house, could not be better. The place is just a two minute walk to the ferry. It is more like an AirBNB than a hotel/motel. The owners were very friendly and helpful. However, the units were quite dated and in need of work. The accommodation here is very different, and not up the standard we experienced over the rest of New Zealand. When we arrived the place was mostly clean but the fridge had obviously not been cleaned and had a half empty container of milk inside and crumbs everywhere. There was also the lid of a jar on the floor. The bed was really uncomfortable. One side of the bed was so badly sagging it was very hard to sleep in. In the bathroom the handles that open the windows had been removed and were lying on the sill. The shower was new and the water was hot.
