Detailed Reviews
Nice traditional rooms and excellent traditional restaurant with wide offer of Bock estate wines from Villany. Well located close to vineyards and pleasent small spa. Large private function room for +100 quests provide an excellent condition for B2B events. The breaakfast was a bit of disapointment although some local ingredients were served. Renovation and other quests noices during the stay also reduced comfort.

We spent a weekend there. Our room was well designed and clean. The breakfast was great and various. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is private parking for the guests.

Very polite and kind service. Delicious food, and wine for sure. Recommended for every occasion. We were here for wine tasting, it was amazing. The waitress was very attentive. Don’t forget to book a place before you come here. It is full for most of the times.

Like the Gere down the road this place has grown from humble panzio into a very nice hotel. Both offer great food, comfortable rooms, a spa experience and of course, wonderful wines. The Bock lacks the charming views of some of the rooms at the Gere hotel but it holds its own with its food and mind blowing wines. Rooms are large and comfortable. The desk kindly turned up the A.C on a hot afternoon as there are no in-room controls.. It got COLD! One guest I spoke to told me that he ONLY stayed at the Bock because he though they had the best beds in town. My wife concurred. The bidet in the bathroom was a nice touch.,..especially after a week on the Goulash Trail..laugh.. No English language news channels.. Bummer;..
The food has improved tremendously. For years the restaurant served decent though unimaginative plates.. That has all changed.. The kitchen now has a real chef working behind the stoves and the dishes are inventive and delicious... Shame that the foie is served without a nice sweet red onion or fruit confit and toasts to spread it on instead of the soft home baked grape seed bread.. My Mangalica pork with a delicious roasted pepper cream sauce was beautiful , the fried green onion stems not so much..The wait staff are real pros and happy to talk food and wine.,,. It goes without saying that the wine, the big reds at least, have no equals in Hungary and are prize winners throughout Europe.. beautiful stuff.. Joszef Bock is usually around and he is a very funny and nice man., not to mention a real pioneer in the post communist wine making scene. Get him to sign a few bottles for your cellar!
The spa is a modest affair; small indoor pool, a jacuzzi ( which much better than the one at the Gere) sauna and a small steam room that hadn't been turned on sadly. Massages etc are available by appointment. The bottled mineral water was a nice touch..
Breakfast comes with the room..It's a buffet deal with the usual salamis and cold cuts, not so great bread and surly serving women.. The Gere beats them hands down here. Some decent baked good would be nice..

Me and my girlfriend just arrived back from three days in this lovely hotel/panzio. I was very unlucky to catch a cold just on the first day, and my gf caught it on the last day, so many things were spoilt because of this. However - no matter how bad you feel, the sensation of staying in the Bock panzio will make up for every bad thing that ever happened to you.
We have stayed in several hotels all over Europe, both good and bad. Most of them are just hotels and you can't be bothered to even comment on them. Bock has taken a totally new approach on quality. To them it's not about making money - it's about class. You feel like you've been invited to mr Bock himself the minute you step inside the reception. We payed a ridiculousy small amount extra for an executive suit (I believe it was something like 1-2 euro extra per night) and the room was nice and large with an effective air condition and a tv which actually has all the channels without any distortion.
I'm not sure how to really tell how classy this hotel is so I think I will try to explain it in small details:
* On our restaurant night there was also a wedding taking place which meant the kitchen was really busy. At a normal restaurant you would just have to wait until the food was ready - but at Bock etterem you would get information on what was going on and also compensation in form of free wine. I was a bit surprised really because it wasn't even that much waiting. At the end of the night we had several good wines (I could tell eventhough I had a cold) and yet the waitor only charged us for 1 dl per bottle - and we had a lot more. Very nice gesture.
* The staff - they are really the heart of this building. I was so impressed with the service level and how professional they all were. Normally you just get tired from seeing receptionist and waitors at your hotel. This was not the case in Bock hotel. At times it felt like being more at home than when you're at home. Nothing was a problem at this place. At times I think they could make anything possible. Stunning.
* They would leave the wine bottles (with wine in) at the table after serving you your 1-2 dl drink. At any other restaurant they would just serve you your drink and take away the bottle to make sure no one is drinking without paying for it.
* On our second day we wanted to try out the spa. Normally you have to leave some deposit. Not at this place. We were handed a robe that was packed in a plastic bag, as if it had just arrived from a full chemical clean. We enjoyed 2½h in the spa without any other people. The spa is perfect size for a hotel like this. We then took our robes back to the room and left them there for the morning for the hotel staff to pick it up.
* The wine cellar is the jewel in this hotel. I was very impressed with what they had built. The further in you get in the cellar the more you will understand what kind of spirit the place has resting over it. Mr Bock really wanted to leave a landmark. He has gone all in on this project and nothing has been saved on to make that dream come true. Very impressive.
If I had to say something they could do better I would say the Wifi could be a bit stronger in the other part of the building (from room 19-26?) and perhaps free up some more parking space?

Villany has enumerable wineries and this lovely pension which looks like a hotel but you have to put a sign on your door to get your room cleaned. Very good value treatments in the wellness centre and a good restaurant with party evenings ( not experienced) Excellent sommelier and wonderful welcome generally
Wonderful beds but the place is expanding and builders and wine makers get going in the morning. Tennis court planned.
Bock also has a restaurant by the Corinthian Hotel in Budapest with a celebrity chef and their wines
Some very big wine producers in the town but also small "cafes" where a very small producers wine can be tasted.
Malatinszky is also a find with a much more sophisticated eatery and a debonnaire owner
Although the website has only a rather dodgy option for German as a foreign language enough people spoke English

My sister and I spend 1-2 nights here every year. The rooms are clean and modern. The staff are helpful and nice. The restaurant offers great meals, however it needs some more variety. We always drink min. 5 different wines for tasting and eat cheese after dinner. Breakast is great. I cannot imagine a year without spending sister-time there, relaxing in the pool, sweating in the sauna, refilling the batteries and drinking amazing wines. It’s a must!

We haven’t stayed here yet, though tried but it gets pretty booked up in advance. We however visited for some of their finest wines and cheese, twice. Great wine selection and guaranteed to be good. Favourite place in Villany, don’t miss it!
