Just got back from a weeks goose shooting in Scotland staying at the Brown Trout hotel. What a lovely place and friendly people. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It may be a little dated but for the money it was spot on.
The Staff couldn't be more pleasent, great little place to use as your basecamp for the area, set in a small village between Wick and Thurso.
The room was clean and tidy and they do a cracking breakfast , very flexible worth your needs.

Ok little place, friendly barman typical little country watering hole near loch Watten. We enjoyed a couple of rounds of drinks here after the drive north before retiring to our delightful B&B Loch Watten House

hey yes the train's last stop is wick which is 7 miles out of watten and yes theres a bus service the hotel has timetables for you and bus stop is right outside the hotel next to the car park :) bus is normally every hour
