We couldn't find any suitable motels in the area so chose the lodge as a one night stop on our way to Doubtful Sound. We were very glad that we did as Sharon and Mark were wonderful hosts, making us extremely welcome. The lodge is charming and homely in a beautiful location, conveniently just off the main road, which is...

The perfect stay during a father-son fishing trip. The accommodation was splendid, country-style, in a pastoral setting with a wide choice of nearby quality rivers. We stopped by our hosts' Airstream they have parked down the road to get information on local waters. Marks tows it over almost every day to sell coffee specialties, sweets, sandwiches, etc. to passersby and...

Sharon and Mark are caring and capable hosts. We ate 1 meal with them, Mark perfectly cooked our salmon and tasty rice pilaff. The hot breakfasts was also well presented. Choose your room carefully, ours was very small and basic, room only for the bed and 2 small bedside tables. There were 2 other larger and more comfortable rooms with...

Sharon and Mark were our hosts. The bed was very comfortable. TV worked well. Lots of books on NZ available in the rustic comfy lounge. Mark cooked a lovely dinner and breakfast. We have no complaints and enjoyed our stay.

We spent three days over Christmas at Castlehill Lodge and simply fell in love with the place. It's a very cosy B&B that makes you feel home away from home; comfy rooms, a nice communal area and a lovely outdoor area and some very friendly farm animals plus Barkley, their adorable Labrador - exactly right to wind down and relax....

Mark and Sharon are wonderful hosts, and Barclay the dog helped us miss our dog less! Comfy rooms and lounge, great food, beautiful star gazing, quiet picturesque rural setting. We only stayed one night but would return again and would definitely recommend to others.

We chose Castle Hill Lodge as a nice stopover to break up our trip south and were just blown away by the delightful atmosphere and the genuine warmth and friendliness of our hosts Mark and Sharon. We stayed in the England Room which was exceptionally well appointed, very warm and cosy with a wonderfully comfortable bed. We opted for the...

One of the nicest B&B experiences to be found anywhere in the world. Accommodations, meals, setting and most importantly, the hosts. Mark and Sharon are an amazing couple that are delight to get to know and spend time with when you are not out exploring the countryside. My visit was part of a quest to find some elusive New Zealand...

Was stopped for speeding by a local Cop who advised me to find local accomodation instead of travelling another couple of hours to Queenstown (8pm at night when I was stopped) and Castle Hill Lodge was the first property I liked the look of. What a find! Very well appointed property with a very tastefully styled bedroom and ensuite for...
