Count yourself lucky if you find yourself at Bhoramdeo Jungle Retreat. You will be hosted and entertained by Sunny Upadhyay who has developed this oasis over the past 11 years. The property on one hectare, has six rooms so there is plenty of room to roam around and I never felt crowded. The rooms are comfortable, the water is hot, there is good water pressure and the food is good. I especially enjoyed listening to his stories around the after-dinner bonfire. Sunny has many repeat visitors and even though it is just 2016, he already has bookings ifor 2019! Lonely Planet has just discovered him, so it is important to book early.

Wonderful. We cannot recommend BJR too highly! It has been a most rewarding way to explore real rural India, by guided walking and cycling tours and on our own. Lying on the division between the plains and heavily forested hills, it offers the potential of total immersion in both. Sunny and Sabrina are fantastic and enthusiastic hosts who can do much to introduce visitors to the culture of the area. The food is great and the atmosphere very relaxing – a bit like a house party. Only downer is no Wifi.

Bhoramdeo is such a wonderful place to stay, located in the heart of India, it's tranquil setting and beautiful rooms make it something truly amazing. Sunny and Sabrina are the perfect hosts. Each day fun activities are planned, such as visiting local villages and embarking on great adventures planned by the wonderful Sunny. His imaginative plans are always brilliant; whether it's by car, bike or foot. The surrounding scenery is so beautiful and your brilliant guides Sunny and Sabrina are both informative and great fun. The rooms are all lovely, as is the courtyard and dining area. The food is SUBLIME. I would highly recommend Bhoramdeo, as an opportunity to see Central India at it's best and to experience fun, thoughtful and friendly hosting.

Bhoramdeo Jungle Retreat is an absolute gem, I've never stayed anywhere like it before and would absolutely encourage anyone to go! The place itself is so tranquil and gorgeous, the rooms are wonderfully furnished and the food incredible - my favourite throughout my whole trip! The best part is that you don't feel as though you are at a hotel or lodge, but rather staying with a good friend. Sunny, Sabrina and the rest of the staff are really wonderful and incredibly welcoming. Dinner under the stars with our hosts (at whatever time you wish) was a reoccurring highlight for me. Sunny is committed to helping the local community and during my stay with friends we we were given amazing opportunities to witness this. There are lovely cushions and hammocks dotted around the retreat

Sunny has built this retreat literally with his own hands. He's a local lad, and has his heart set on helping the local community in a very responsible way. He does this by employing locals, and creating interactions between the local community and the guests. You cannot have a better location. Half a mile up the road is an 11th century temple that Indians come to revere, and half a mile down the road is another century's old holy place (that you can, in fact, view from your breakfast table). The accommodation is simple, and fits perfectly within the surroundings. Sunny is gradually building up a decor of works from local artisans, and collecting pictures of the people, places and animals that you might see while you are there. If you visit here, you WILL feel at home,

We spent two nights here, while visiting the northern part of Chhattisgarh. Overall very positive experience and we warmly recommend this place. Most important, the stuff are very friendly and welcoming. Many thanks to Sunny, the manager on site, for taking good care for everything. The rooms are very large, with a large and confortable bed. Bath room is large, with a small water heater which supplies good hot water. Everything clean and in good condition. Electricity may be a problem as there may be breaks and there is no backup generator. No air condition, which was not necessary when we visited mid February. No wifi, which is Ok given that one arrives here to enjoy the tranquil environment, far from email and news... Breakfast and dinner were good. The only problem was that

If you needed it, staying here would restore your faith in the magic and beauty of life. Sunny's place is in the heart of village India, just a walk cycle ride or car trip away from people who still live sustaining themselves, building their own houses, growing their own food, creating their own art. Sunny draws your attention continuously to wondrous parts of life here. It is a rare treat in this increasingly homogenised world to be in a place that is still completely of itself. Sunny's staff are very, very attentive and yet encourage a feeling that we are all apart of one family there at the retreat. The rooms are comfortable and laid out around a pretty garden courtyard. Early morning is a wonderful soundtrack of monkey's, birds, cowbells, temple chanting. The food is fresh,

Less than a kilometre away from the star attraction of Chhattisgarh, Bhoramdeo Temple, is the Bhoramdeo Jungle Retreat. The homestay run by the gregarious ‘Sunny’is a nonesuch property built along traditional lines using mud walls and lot of timber. There are three cottages with three rooms each, opening to a veranda. All the rooms have en suite bathrooms, are fitted with every creature comfort, but thankfully bereft of television. The dining area is common and the locally employed kitchen staff whips up meals of your choice. For non-vegetarian fare, inform Sunny a day in advance as provisions are bought from Kawardha 17 km away. However, local brew mahua or salfi are available on much shorter notice. Sunny organises local village visits for the guests of BJR; try and go on the

Serenity of Nature. Wonderful, Relaxing, Simple, Typical but Effective Experience of Stay and Attractions around the resort. A must visit place, who are interested in - Village Life # Tribal Life # Wild Life .... All are there. Mr.Sunny - The owner and i am sure will become friend (after staying there) , is very very Friendly and experience about the knowledge of Tribes and Locals. Much more to Surprises he brings, is yet another plus point. Rooms are very comfortable and styled of village look. No-Tv, but you wont think of it, while staying here. Food is good, and makes us feel like home. We often visit there, due to close proximity, along with Kanha Nationa Park.
