This place really is a home from home, from the moment we arrived Kathy & Terry made us feel so welcome. Spacious room at the back of the house overlooking the garden, beautifully decorated, king sized bed with lovely crisp white linen. Breakfast had a good selection of breads, home made jams, pastries, cereals & scrambled eggs. Katy's cooking is...

My wife and I were visiting the area looking at properties, we had a wonderful few days staying at The Lavender House. Terry and Kathy were marvellous hosts, the room was very comfortable and clean with lovely character. I would recommend paying Kathy the little extra to experience one of her dinners, very tasty 3 courses and a carafe of...

We stayed here while completing a house sale. The rooms are lovely, it is like staying in a lovely country house. Lovely breakfast and lovely owners. We would definitely stay here again. The property is right in the centre of the village so ideal for walking to the 2 local bars.

This is a beautiful B & B run by a lovely couple who made sure everything was perfect for our stay. Our room was spotlessly clean with a large bed, pristine white bedding and modern bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room which we could replenish when we needed were such a welcome bonus. Great breakfast, good wifi...

We wanted to stay at the Lavender House again on our way back up to the Channel Ports. We were not disappointed and Kathy cooked us a lovely evening meal (Pre Order). The breakfast was great as was our room. (Tea and coffee making facilities in the room) Sitting in either the back or front garden was very relaxing on...

We had 6+ hours of driving to reach the Lavender House, bienvenue to French vacation traffic! We were exhausted, irritable and tired when we arrived. Terry and Kathy were kind and welcoming. We had originally booked a specific room with twin beds because it was the only room available, much to our chagrin. But on our arrival, Kathy said we...

We stayed 3 nights and very much appreciated the comfortable and clasy accomodation and the warmth and helpfulness of our hosts. Nothing was too much for them with all requests acted on immediately. Breakasts drinking coffee from bone china and warm croissants and fresh bread - wonderful. The location, just north of Dordogne was perfect for touring in our car....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lavender House is an English guest house/B&B ideally placed to explore the French departments of the Charente, Haute Vienne and the Dordogne. Situated just 15 minutes along the D13 from the pretty chateau town of La Rochefoucauld (Route Claude Bonnier - N141). Montemboeuf is also within easy reach of Limoges, Bordeaux, Cognac, the French coast at La Rochelle or Royan and the through routes to the Spanish border. Built in 1857, the house has been sympathetically restored by Terry & Kathy Bowen to provide four bedrooms, two double's, a twin and a family room that sleeps 4/5. All with en-suite facilities. The design influence of Laura Ashley is much in evidence throughout! Directly off the large reception hallway is a comfortable, well appointed guest lounge, and a separate traditional dinning room where both breakfast and evening meals are served. Outside the gardens are open for exploration, quiet relaxation, or perhaps afternoon tea served with home made cake! Free WiFi, don't forget to bring your laptop/netbook. Stay for a day, a week or maybe just the weekend, but however long your stay, you will be certain of a warm and friendly welcome in a house that might just be your ideal home from home. If you're wondering where to stay in France, The Lavender House is the answer. Close to the towns of Angouleme, Chabanais, Chalus, Chasseneuil sur Bonnieure, Chassenon, Cherves Chatelars, La Rochefoucauld, L'Arbre, Mansle, Massignac, Mazeroles, Montbron, Mouzon, Rochechouart. Roussines, Rouzede, St Claud, St Junien, Vitrac St Vincent, ideal if you are visiting family or friends. ... more   less
