Having just finished up a 16 day stay in Costa Rica I can now say that this was by far my favourite place to stay. We were totally spoilt for the rest of our trip by the adundance of wild life here from the howler monkeys, coatis, frogs, snakes not to mention of course some incredible bird life ranging from...

This family run lodge was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. Everyone was so welcoming, kind and helpful. The lodge is beautiful and the surroundings are amazing. Loads wildlife, rain forrest and the river to explore with friendly and knowledgeable guides. Great hospitality, wonderful food. I can not recommend it enough. It is worth the journey!

We stayed for 3 nights in January 2015. This was our second trip to Costa Rica and this lodge was recommended by our agents in the UK. We have travelled on dirt roads in many countries and some are well-maintained - the 20 mile approach from Pital is not, with the whole surface full of pot-holes. The staff at the...

We have a very small number of favourite lodges in Costa Rica and this is definitely one of them. It may be a long drive, the last part being on a bumpy dirt road, but this all part of the experience and getting out into the countryside. This is a great place for bird watching, even if not real bird...

OK,so the drive is a bit tedious -33km of dirt track - but it seems that is the norm for Costa Rica. As soon as we arrived we were aware of bright coloured birds everywhere. The restaurant/bar/common area is very close to the constantly replenished feeding stations and the bird viewing is outstanding. We had toucans less than 10ft away...

This place is remote with parking area and staging for short trip across a river to the gracious Lodge I had a nice large room/house with lovely views and lots of birds at nearby feeders. Not only good for birds, but we saw a crocodile and a nearby caiman, as well as a coati mundi and many interesting insects. The...

Oké as shown below it is not trendy or boutique (why does TripAdvisor ask?). Instead it better... It is a stunning location on a isolated spot in the middle of nature. The setup and apartments are beautiful. Scenery amazing... It's not about big animals but beautiful nature, it's diversity and everything that lives in it. The staff here is very...

It was one of the most beautiful, remote and calm places during our trip through Costa Rica. We had a wonderful time and were sad that we weren't able to stay a night longer. The rooms are in fact small houses, each with a terrace of its own and a view over the lagoon. They are orientated in a way...

I spent two days at Maquenque as part of a wildlife trip to Costa Rica. Everywhere was beautiful and full of wildlife, but I think Maquenque shaded it as my favourite. Beautiful and extensive grounds, lovely staff, canoes available to paddle in the backwaters, a cayman in the lake, a coati in the grounds.... I went on two guided trips,...
