Its a real late review. We had been here on new year eve. Groombridge is very vibrant interior with rustic charm in it. Its a very calm and serene place. I've no words to thank Mr Vijay Suri and team. They did a real good job when it comes to service.
Superbly done up rooms, cosy and most comfortable admist lush green trees. Groombridge has worked on every small detail to give comfort and ease to their guests. Right from complementary upgrade to helping in sightseeing, everything was best taken care of. Barbeque and grilled food was simply fantastic..
Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Went to this place after a lot of positive reviews from the website . The hosts (Mr suri) is a gem of person and knows how to delight their guests . He helped us planning out our itenerary . The food was wonderful

Suggestions :
Parking arrangement should be made and some basic services should be provided to the drivers ( water, washroom etc)
Gulab Jamun was a bit pricey .

Dear Alok, Many thanks, for a personal praise of me. It was delightful ,to meet you and all your friends. It was a pleasure, to have you all over.We do, have our own parking, which most of the hotels in Shimla, do not have .As a small hotel, with just 10 rooms it is difficult to provide accommodation ,and wash rooms, to all the drivers ,who visit us .However ,we did ,make arrangements, for your driver, free of cost.We do make arrangements for the drivers, if we are informed in advance, in the nearby budget hotels at the guests cost, if available. As far as the price ,of the Gulab jamun ,there was an error in charging you, which was discovered after I read your review. We regret, that you where overcharged .We will have the money refunded t,o your account ,if you share the same with us. I am sure ,you enjoyed ,your stay in the upgraded higher category rooms ,both your rooms, which were upgraded at our cost This was done, so that your experience, at Groombridge, is a better ,and more memorable one. Your compliments ,to the Chef, have been passed. We did ,serve you dinner, well past our kitchen time .We realized that some of you were hungry. Thank you once again I am looking forward to your next visit. Regards

I have visited Shimla with my Family of 12members on Jan 2020 for 5 Days..
Have booked flight tickets and rooms 2 months prior. From the day 1 i spoken to Mr.Vijay regarding room booking he started to guide me about booking and he kept on updating about the weather in Shimla and also planned a iternerty for my travel with vehicle also..
Day 1 when we started from Madurai to Chandigarh via banglore he called me frequently and got updated where I am and send the vehicle to airport 2hrs prior.
With the whole day travel we are fully tired while reaching Groom Bridge by night 9pm at that time the weather was "-1" Degree.
The entire team of Groom Bridge waited to receive us on the from of the hotel including the property owner Mr.Vijay.
I was really surprised to see all are waited in front and welcomed us.
They received us in a great respect and provided us a Fantastic Welcome drink which is specially made from himachal flowers..
All the rooms are designed and decorated superb..
Especially Arum Room where I stayed was really a fantastic room with the view of the city and forest..
We stayed 4 nights in Groom Bridge.. all the 4 days the breakfast was given as complimentary.. ever day they will ask us what to prepare for breakfast.. Dinner also they have prepared and gave what ever we asked. Really i thank to the entire kitchen team for the wonderful service and food for hot serve at any time.. on the 3rd day my younger son got sick and i asked them to prepare KANJI food for him. Initial i could not able to make them understand what I need but Mr.Vijay came and understood what I need and also he him self went into the kitchen and prepare the food for my son. They didn't charge of it. Thank you sir for your kindness.. day 2 we requested for the campfire at the evening.. we had a good time there. They have provided a live BBQ counter for us near campfire and served a hot dishes.. and also they gave a complimentary Dishes to us which we dint expect..
really we enjoyed a lot there..
My Big thanks to the whole team and Mr.Vijay sir for treating us in a great manner..

My father said that Mr.Vijay the man who is the Pride of Shimla..

surely will visit again there..

Thanks to the entire team...

Good evening dear Sughanthan ji Greeting From Groombridge ! I was happy to learn that you had reached back safely at Madurai. I was really touched by the hug you gave me before you left. It did say a lot about you ,and your personality which is a rarity these days. What you said, while hugging ,"You are like my father". moved me deeply. It was an emotional goodbye. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart, for saying such kind words and the hug would be cherished by me forever. An act of magnanimity by you has humbled me. The amount of love, affection, and compassion you had, for your family ,especially your parents speaks volumes about you as a person, rarely found these days. They are blessed to have you, and you, to have such wonderful parents. Really Sughanthan, thank you, for choosing to stay at Groombridge and sharing your family with us .Your visit shall always be remembered by all at Groombridge. We sincerely do hope everyone had a great holiday in Shimla. It was a pleasure, to have met, and hosted you all and I totally look forward to your visit again. It would be an honour to look after you, your family and friends, who wish to spend more quality time and unwind in the wilderness at Groombridge. Thank you for all the positive feedback. The team was very encouraged when I read out your review to them. This would help us to perform better and eventually, reach higher standards of excellence. Clearly this review is not in line with all the others. Firstly let me say it is written by a retired Brit so my perspective is somewhat different for what appears to be all other reviews which seem to be Indian nationals. We chose this accommodation based on the excellent reviews, which with hindsight was a mistake. On arrival we found that the location was at least 30+ mins walk from the mall along difficult roads and the room/hotel had no heating. Although we were provided with extra duvets and a small heater with a night time temperature of just above zero it made for a freezing night. In fact too cold for a shower in the morning. We cut short our stay and moved to another hotel on the Mall which had heating. This was a smart move and ensured we enjoyed our stay in Shimla. The hotel might be a good choice for the summer months but I would suggest avoiding in the winter or go with the knowledge that it will be bracing.

Dear Sir Paul It was a pleasure to have met you and Mary.We deeply apologise ,that you had an uncomfortable stay at Groombridge. I do understand, that as a retired , senior citizen you felt cold. Sir, it would be incorrect to say , that we have visitors only from India . We have had other guests, from other countries ,who may have not written a review ,but have been very happy ,with their stay here. Our website, does mention, that we provide heaters, which were provided to you .We just wished, you told us that you were cold ,and, had asked us ,for better heating . We would have provided you ,with high powered gas heaters . All heaters, are chargeable, the rates are mentioned on the website. You were, in a hurry to leave the next morning, and inadvertently, forgot to pay,for your room heater. You, left in a huff, without even settling your final accounts. The receptionist had to be sent ,after you ,to the clear your bills. .. The reasons,as stated by you , for your leaving early, was that you were not carrying, any winter clothing, and were coming from Rajasthan, which is a hot desert. You were ,also were not expecting ,such weather conditions. We did ,offered you jackets, for your personal use, which you refused, telling us that since, you were going down the following day, to the plains, you would not be needing them. I just wished, if you had ,mentioned ,only once , that you were uncomfortable ,at night, for want of proper heating ,we would have done everything, provided you with better heating, and made your stay ,comfortable and memorable. Groombridge ,is there on the Google Maps, and on the website. We are, only a half hour walk ,to the heart of the city ,as mentioned by you .Sir, we really did not know ,that you wanted to stay in the middle ,of the city. Most travellers, come to Shimla, to be away from the hustle and bustle ,of the crowded city, and want to be close to nature,in a middle of a forest surrounded by an Oak and Rhododendron forest. You are right, that it is an excellent choice in the summers. We have had, other guests around the same time ,you visited, and in times when the temperature have been far lower .All guests, have been ,extremely happy with, their stay. and have had no complaints. They all, have been very happy, with all the services, and heating provided by us. We, at Groombridge ,make ,all efforts ,and every endeavor,to treat our guests with care, and do our very best, to make them comfortable. We once again, deeply regret, the error in communication Sir ,you and Mary ,are a wonderful couple .As a retired personnel, from the RAF ,I had expected, you to be, more candid and frank with me .I really wish, you given me an opportunity, to make you ,and Mary comfortable . I would have ,gone out of my way to do anything, for you , as I do for all my guests. We have taken ,this matter very seriously .For next winters, high powered gas heaters, are being installed,in all the rooms to maintain the heating, without being asked for, leaving no room for any error in communication. We would, never like any other guest ,to have an unpleasant experience . Looking forward, to seeing you again ,anytime you are in this part of the world, and giving us the opportunity to serve you better . I am sure ,we will send you back very happy with really happy memories. Regards

Groombridge is a British Era heritage property run by Vijay Suri who is very much at home in the mountains and the old-world charm of the place. Each room is distinct- with a different flower as a theme for every room. All rooms are well lit and ventilated with stunning nine views. Sunsets are not be missed. The highlight of our stay is the evenings spent with Vijay treating us to scrumptious barbecues and regaling us with stories about his house and the area.

Groombridge is a beautifully done up, boutique property where service with smile is the hallmark. Cheerful environment with vibrant interiors, it has a quaint hill charm. Vijay Suri, the owner, is warm and charming, as is his hospitality. The entire team is so hospitable and leave no stone unturned to make one feel comfortable. We wanted to visit the Mall road and promptly enough, a car with driver was made available to drop us there. Our room was clean and cozy, the mattress was extraordinarily comfortable and the bathroom had hot, running water.

We visited the property in December and Vijay specially organized a bonfire and barbecue for a wonderful winter experience. The peaceful serenity of the forest around Groombridge is a luxury for the urbanites.

We have already recommended it to friends & family and will be visiting again soon.

Came back after a 3nts stay at this beautiful private residence property of Mr Suri. Went with family and loved every bit of my time spent in Shimla, away from the crowds and chaos of the extremely packed mall road. Mall is about 30mins walk or take a quick 5 min taxi worth 200/- and get dropped at lakkar bazaar. Go to this place for peace and quaintness, do a trek in the nearby forest, get up to the chirping birds and spend the days peacefully. The cooks make some great food so don't worry about your meals but please be mindful that it's a place to spend some quality time and not for loud/noisy evenings which can even damage the experience of someone who's genuinely looking for a serene stay.

The host Mr Suri is fantastic and an accomplished personality, will give you the history of the place as well. Don't sweat over the slowness of the place as that's quite normal in all the hills. Do make sure you get the exact directions from Mr Suri so you don't get troubled on the way.

Staff is friendly and you'll know them all by their names once you're there. Carry a stick when you're out on the walks and you'll be all fine.

Have a good, exclusive and secluded stay.

Awesome place to stay bit away from mall road. It’s a affordable luxury. The place is ahead of Radisson Hotel. Service is excellent by the all staff. They always prepare fresh food and always suggest your own dish which you like. The owner of the property Suri Uncle is gem of a guy. He takes care of his guest personally.

The valley view from the rooms and resort is lovely.
