I stayed in Hotel Merit for 1 night. The people there were very nice. Breakfast didn't have a lot of variety but we managed ourselves. The people tried to help us as much as they can. We also had a bit of problem with the flushing in the toilet which they had straight away then fixed it for us. They gave us suggestions for restaurants and ways to go around cinque terre. Rooms were also fine, I would say to stay in the hotel for about 1-2 nights is fine. Also this one of the cheapest hotels we could find!!
Overall great experience. Perfect if you are traveling during the high season (june-august). It is just far enough to escape the chaos of the Cinque Terre, which is filled with tourists, but close enough to make easy day trips. 10 minute bus/car ride from the train station of Framura and small, not so crowded rock beaches. 2 stations away from Levanto and Bonasola, if you prefer sand beaches. As for the Hotel itself... small but comfortable rooms and very clean. The restaurant offers delicious locally fished seafood, cooked to perfection. Would definitely come again!
Hotel Meri is a nice pension with friendly hosts (only Italian) and typical of what you get for the price in the region. The rooms are quite small, have no sea view but are very clean. The hotel is loated in a very quiet area and it takes a ride to get somewhere (don't underestimate the time you need with the curly roads). However food is very good in the restaurant especially the fish - don't expect a lot (almost never in Liguria) but the quality is very good. Breakfast is also OK.
We arrived having booked a large double room with sea views. If you stood on the hotel roof you would still not see the sea. The pictures on Expedia are obviously not taken from the hotel but do not say that. The Large double room was barely big enough for a double bed. And in spite of wheat was said in the marketing.... No one spoke English. In the end we walked out and eventually found somewhere else. Unfortunately this was not in Cinque Terre but an hour south. Most disappointing Waiting to see if Expedia will refund our $$
I and my girlfriend first came here in March 2015. Since, we have come back three more times. The (new) owners are extremely kind and helpful (by the way, they will pick you up at the station, if you come by train). At the restaurant of the hotel you will taste the classical La Spezia cuisine (e.g., filled mussels, locally fished anchovies, etc.). This is a perfect place to explore the wild beauty of this unspoilt part of Liguria, close to 5terre, but far from noise and confusion.
