The only reason this place was chosen is that it's near to the double decker living root bridge..

I went to his place along with my kids and family friends. Overall it was disappointing..

Reasons:
1. The don't have water heater in the rooms and they claim hot water will be provided in the morning 7am via solar system. The solar system doesn't work so the hot water was served via bucket and each time you need to request in advance. When it's less than 10degrees, i dont understand the logic of not having geyser. This was also not mentioned at the time of booking. With kids it's really a struggle.

2. Food - Half of the items in the menu are not available. If you order the food you need to wait for 1.5 hours. The kids were starving for quite a long time. Next day we ordered upfront to minimise waiting time. Breakfast- they call as buffet but it only had poori, bananas and corn flakes.. juice is syrup.based so better to avoid

3. The staffs are trying to work.hard but they have a long way to.go. The management needs to seriously.look into main aspects and ensure the experience is at least good for visitors.

Finally, not much to do with service but a tip to travellers. The route to this hotel will have real bumpy roads at least for 30 mins in a very narrow road. So please avoid if this doesn't suit your needs.

The only reason to stay at this Hotel is if you want an early start to your trek to the Double Decker Root Bridge. Getting in and out of Tyrna Village (where the Hotel is located) is horrendous - 9 Km of terrible road. Nothing else is attractive about the Hotel. Sohra is pretty so the view from the Hotel is available anywhere in Sohra. The Restaurant is a joke - wait 90 min for your order. Free breakfast is just good enough to sustain you for the tough trek. The reason I gave 2 stars is because the service is decent and the food did not taste bad (except on the first night of our stay).

Pros - clean room & bathroom, fantastic view, polite staff, located near the double decker root bridge.

Cons - hotel management does not do a good job controlling unruly guests. We couldn't sleep the whole night because of noisy guests roaming around the corridors, screaming.
Breakfast option is limited, poori baaji on both days.

A boutique hotel, with smiling and ever-helpful manager -Ms.Nadia.
From one side and the restaurant, we had amazing views of hills of Shora-Cherrapunji.
Rooms are done up very contemporarily, though slightly compact.
Recommended for the clean rooms, hospitality and locational convenience.
Wifi connection was available only around the reception area. Hotel management may find solution to provide good wifi connection for all the rooms.

We stayed here for a night as we had to trek to the double decker root bridges the next morning. The trek route is only about 150 metres from the resort. What a nightmare it turned out to be !

Our room had no windows and no ventilation whatsoever, which was suffocating and made our stay extremely uncomfortable (They don't have any a/c rooms). At about 1:30 am, there was no power. We were hoping that power would be restored in a few minutes once the generator was switched on. That was not to be. For several minutes, we tried reaching several of the hotel's numbers - There was either no response or phones were switched off. My wife and I had to walk to the lobby at 1:45 am to get somebody to start the generator. We had to wake up the individual in the lobby after several attempts and ask him to switch it on (The person's phone was playing loud music but he seemed to be acting like he was sleeping. In hindsight, this felt like it was a regular affair as he seemed very casual about it and feigned ignorance. He was the only staff present.). Off he went to the generator and came back in a couple of minutes stating that there was no diesel and hence, the generator could not be switched on. Imagine, a hotel inconvenienced several guests because they had no diesel !!! We discovered that the hotel's primary number which elicited no response was being carried by the same individual and he was avoiding responding to our calls.

My wife and I headed back to our room and the only thing we could do was to keep the balcony door open to let some fresh air in (It was raining heavily but it's the only choice we had even if it let some rain water in and the claps of thunder didn't help us sleep). We had a torrid time and my family hardly slept. Power was restored at about 7:15 am just when we were leaving for our trek.

Turns out this was not our experience alone. A couple of other guests were desperately scouting for rooms during dinner the previous night as they found the room suffocating as it did not have ventilation. Unfortunately for them, it was late evening and options were limited.

There were other issues too. Dinner was of poor quality and dishes didn't taste like what the menu claimed they were (We heard another guest asking the staff if they really knew how the dish they ordered was made). Coming back to the room after dinner, we were welcomed by a large cockroach. Awful dinner and the cockroach were only the initial signs of worse to come, as we discovered later.

The resort's (It's a hotel, not a resort) only positives are its view from the balcony, proximity to the route where the trek to double decker root bridges begin and its courteous restaurant staff.

Royal View Resort is not a place I'd like to visit ever again.

It is just two minutes from the start of the trekking point to the Double decker bridge. Fantastic view of the sunset from the room I stayed in. Food is excellent and the staff is very responsive and courteous. Rooms are spacious and it is so well located in the greenery around. Very happy to have stayed here.

This hotel is only good as it’s very near to the starting point of double decker bridge . We checked in here on 5th of April 2022 . Our room no was 202 or 203 can’t exactly remember, from there you can see a goddamn graveyard from the balcony which they tried their best to hide with a false construction cloth kinda thing .. there were no electricity for the whole night right from 11pm to 6in the morning. There very insects, crickets at every corner of our room flying here and there . And about the staffs- they don’t understand any language not even signs languages other than their local language.

This hotel is quite inside but with a good view of the mountains. One catch you should get the valley facing rooms which are only 3 or 4. Other rooms have any view. Staff very courteous and hospitable. Food is also nice. Don't have high expectations in Meghalaya. When we were there it was raining heavily we could see water falls all around. You should brave the monsoon then it is real fun in Meghalaya.

Beautiful view of sunset. Two minutes from the start of the trekking point to the Double decker bridge. The rooms were decent and food was below average. We stayed for 2 days. Was tough to manage here with very young kids. Staff was responsive though. Overall decent but not very comfy.
